OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I've been looking at these for awhile now and was wondering whos' you were using on your personal vehicle. I have been looking at the ORD's and Sky-Manufacturing's and the one's that Backyardbuilt makes. I'm looking for pro's and con's if you have them. Also, what year GM can I use the lowering shackles to gain somemore lift when I install the Shackle Flip. Thanks for your input!

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I haven't installed them yet but I have a set of used ORD 4" flips that I bought here. I've never seen the other brand flips but I have to say I am really impressed with the quality of the ORD units, nice and beefy.

The lowering shackles for any leaf spring rear gm truck will work, heck i think they're the same ones for ford trucks as well.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I ran the ORD 4" flip on a previous Blazer and I'm currently running the ORD 2.5" flip my Jimmy.
I've got pretty much all of ORD's stuff (crossover steering, greaseable bushings, 1" body lift, bolt in box brace, HD shackles) and I would highly recommend all of it. Quality, service and price beat all others I've delt with. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I was considering this as well to help fix my saggy butt and get a little more spring movement, but I've heard those longer shackles can be pretty flimsy when used on a flip setup. I'm considering making my own, or gusseting the longer "lowering" shackles.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I didn't think about the longer shackle being weaker than the stocker. They should be easy to gusset up to make it stronger I would think. Idea's on this anyone?

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

It's probably not a big deal when they are used as designed in a tension shackle setup. It shouldn't be a big deal to gusset it up, but I think I'm gonna try making my so I can fine tune the desired amount of lift.

ORD's. They make real good products /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I gusseted the set I have on my K5 now. And they are adjustable. You can put them in the stock hole location or the extended one. Meaning 4-6" of lift. I will try and get some pictures soon.

I'm intersted in seeing the pics when you get 'em.
Where did you get the shackles from?

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

mud390 he sent them to me with some ORD shackle flips i bought off him like a year ago. I got rid of the flips but kept the shackles.

Here is a pic of the Echobit style flip w/ an Echobit lengthened shackle. It has been on for 2 years w/ no problems, and I am not easy on it.

ORD 4 " flip and the 2" lowering shackle for a 88-98 chevy(6.5" hole to hole) from summit.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I use the Echobit right now.

When I put the 63s in, I'm making my own and selling the Echobit.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

ORD 2.5

great product. bit of a pain to install, and didnt fit w/ stock hitch, but well worth it.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I'm running ORD's 4"ers and I am very happy with them. I also like that you can swap sides and run the 56" springs.

Re: OK, I\'ve been looking at shackle flips, Who\'s do you run ?

I have to show my ignorance... What is "gusseting".

and not to hijack this but what about "home made" by cutting your stock hangers. (if your not hard core) I've read here many people who are very happy with the cheap route. And if I were to do it with stock parts what's the lift I should expect?

I'm sure this has been hashed before so if someone can point me to some good info I'll be happy.

Thanks - mr.bill
