Okay so oil was POURING out and...

It depends on the block. Not all are drilled/tapped.

I've got junk screwed into mine.

ALL SBC engines have this hole and they are ALL a threaded hole but most are plugged with a 1/4" NPT 5/16" square drive plug.

Number 1 is the oil galley and it appears there is a broken sender still in the hole that is why it is smooth, number 2 is for a bell crank ball, and number 3 is the back side of the engine/trans locating dowel hole.

Any suggestion on plugging that hole? I stuck a screwdriver all the way through and I dont think anything is in there....I really dont want to have to pull the motor to tap that hole...lol. JBL weld possibly :pimp:? Im going to the junkyard tomorrow to see, maybe I got the wrong Sensor Or something

Try using a SQUARE easy out to remove the broken sender.

Fixed it for ya. The square EZ-outs work far better than the twisted style and aren't nearly as easy to break. The twisted style does grip much better BUT they also dig deeper into the part you're trying to remove which in turn adds pressure to the threads and makes it harder to remove.

Heres the pics

Are these pics of your actual engine? If so 100% for sure the galley plug is there but has been drilled through and it's not a broken sender but still needs to be removed so you can either install a sender there or plug the hole properly.

The pic that you have numbers on and is close up is your actual engine?

Thanks for all the input guys! I will be visiting junkyard tomorrow and then I will be goin to the blazer to see if I can plug up the hole. Will keep you guys updated if i have issues or if i fix it :waytogo:

looks like an engine shop oversight, needs to be tapped for a plug.
I wouldnt trust a drive in plug.

Weve spent 3 months putting the motor in...Please tell me we can tap it without pulling the motor

IDK, Not sure there is enough room. Not at home so cant look. I think I would be calling who ever you got the motor from ( you said crate ?) and
let them know the oil sender port is not tapped.
If you can find a small freeze type plug the right size that fits tight and marine epoxy it in would probably work.
But I'm not one for doing that. I'd fix it right.

Got it from father n law and he got it from a guy at work so may not have receipt. If he does I am raising hell...A lot of blood sweat and beers went into this truck so far (beers consumed by my brother)....I think there is enough room to tap it if I'm laying down so hopefully it will work out

I can't imagine any possible way that that hole is not tapped.

Yeah and we got the motor a few years ago from city motors and don't have a receipt, although I doubt they would fix it anyways. Might just drain oil and take oil pan off and hopefully I can get to it from there
