Old Iron 2.0

Keeps the spring from trying to reverse. I just extended my bump stops with a 1.5" square block

I was gonna get longer bump stops and relocate the factory bumpstop bracket forward a little to match up with the spring plate now that it is further forward of where it is in stock form.

I need to get the other axle in, put some weight up front and get wheels and tires on before I start trying to fine tune the suspension.

Fuel tank pulled, trailer hitch pulled, big gay chrome tips cut off, rear axle pulled.

Brake lines stayed intact, last time I did this I rounded the brake line fittings off... I don't think I knew what flare wrenches were at the time though.

I'm going to try and salvage some of the exhaust since its 2.5" and I'll be using the stock LS manifolds which are also 2.5"

Gonna knock some mounts off here in a bit, clean the frame up a little then bolt the shackle flips, shackles and 56's on.

I don't think the 14FF won't go under today... I need to shave the lip on the bottom off, install the pinion guard and swap the "new" spider gears in to replace the welded ones that are currently in there. I think those things might be easier to do with the axle not bolted up.

Why? I've broken a lot of stuff. My front spring hangers have not been an issue though.

Martin

I may just rock them for awhile and see how they do, I had the B52's before on another truck and really liked them so I wouldn't have a problem throwing a set on this one. Not really a priority though.

Got it all bolted up.

Shackle flip brackets bolted on the "wrong side", 6" shackles and 56" springs bolted short side forward.

The bolts that hold the leaf eye to the shackle are a little too short for my liking so those'll get replaced when I come out in the garage next time.

Took all the old brake stuff off, knocked some dirt off and hit the bottom lip with an old wornout flapper wheel. Gonna buy a few new flappers and knock it down to the bottom of the diff cover, that's probably about all that's gonna get done today.

Gonna upgrade the spindle nuts/ retaining rings to the newer style, it currently has the older style spindle nut with the retaining ring that has the ears that you fold over sammiched with another nut, gonna go with the style with the square pin and snap rig.

Cleaned up the part of the spindles where it steps up before the brake flange with a wire wheel, there was a lot of crud built up. Taped the spindles off and sprayed some flat black on there.

Bolted the disc brake brackets on then gave everything another shot of black.

Separated the hubs from the drums.

Gonna get new seals for the hubs and I was thinking about getting the hubs hot tanked just cause they're disgusting...

This is what I'm looking at for wheels.

Clean and simple. If deemed necessary I can turn them into beadlocks at a later date.

Hung the 14FF. Somewhere down the road the perches were cut off and rewelded, by looking at the welds on the shock mounts they look to have been moved too so I'm assuming it came out of a 30 series. They didn't do a bad job on the relocations so everything will stay as is for now.

Shackle angle is looking sexy.

I haven't put the pinion guard on yet or installed the spider gears, I couldn't figure out a way to lock the yoke up to be able to remove the pinion nut... seems best suited with some tires or to keep things from moving.

I don't have a socket big enough for that thing anyway and I need to educate myself on preload and backlash and all of that cool stuff.

Next things on the list:

Newer style spindle nut/square key/spindle nut retainer

Rotors/Calipers/Pads/Wheel studs

Wheels/tires mounted
