ONE BIG JIMMY "Everything In TX Is Bigger!"

I figured that I have destroyed enough of these with some help in high school some unnamed years back and I should build a nice one and a beater that way I don't take the nice one out and get all pissed off when if it gets scratched.:waytogo:

got got the rear axle painted.
rear springs put on. I painted it with the factory diff cover but I have those razorbacks that will go on.

Ok now it was time to put the receiver hitch on.
Will that be easy???
HELLLLLLLL NO!! :doah:

The bolts coming thru the frame for the CUCV frame extensions got in the way with the bolts coming up thru the frame for the hitch and then they all got in the way for the shackle flip kit nut tabs.

So I ended up having to take it all of and put the hitch on first and then notching the shackle flip kit ever so slightly to make those work and then put the frame extensions on. That helped but it was still a pain.

I had all this already on the truck but when you add the flip kit with it let the headaches commence.

Still worth it though! I really like the frame extensions and having a receiver hitch is a must.

I almost thought about using a all military setup for a pintle hitch as well but I decided that it would limit me to what I could haul that way. So I bought a pintle hitch/ball combo hitch and now I should be able to tow just about anything I want with in reason.

I have a couple of military trailers that I need the pintle for.

Here is where I reach out to the experts!!

Looking at the rear calipers going this route I do not have an emergency brake anymore and I would like to.
I was thinking at one time a line lock but they require power to keep the pressure and If I set the brake that power will have to be constant hot and that will drain the battery.

I have a guy that has a set of 76 caddy calipers for me if I want to go that route but really have not seen a good write up on the install and how it all works.

I would like to see what some of you guys have done for an ebrake for the rear.

Give me pics and lots of good info!!!!!! Please!!!

HAD driveline http://www.highangledriveline.com/ , or hydro 1/4 turn in the back brake line... Zim and the ORD rig run the 1/4 turn.. the HAD setup is pretty well documented, I have it for my K5..

Hopefully, someone using caddy calipers will speak up but I'm pretty sure I've rear that they do not self adjust as they should causing them not to work very well.

I'd go with either a mechanical line lock or the H.A.D. kit.

I have had plenty of dealings with the caddy due to me and a buddy of mine having and working on more caddy a than what we would like.
All you have to do is set the parking brake at least once a week and they will stay adjusted just fine.
I will check the H.A.D it may work for me

They make mechanical line locks.

Not sure how it would kill the batter on an electrical one though. Unless you left it on for the weekend or something.

I really do not know how much drain on a battery the electric one would have either. You would think not that much. Probably no more than a radio.
I wonder if the solenoid is rated to hold it that long?
We have used them on race cars but that is only momentary not continuos duty for extended periods of time.

I would not even worry about having one at all but I'm pretty sure I have to have it for inspection.
