It is truly a puzzle to get the military frame extension mounts and the tow hooks and winch tray all lined up but worth it.

Now the fun part Bumper and the prerunner.
It was a little more difficult but well worth it

Got in the shop a little this weekend.
Took it easy had my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday so I was pretty sore and agrivated that I can’t eat.

Got the wiring under the dash all cleaned up and ready for dash assembly. That took a bit of time Saturday afternoon.

Today I wrapped the rope on the winch. That’s a whole lot of fun when you don’t have power to it yet.

Today I also worked on the calipers for the rear disk conversion.

So I already had some calipers on there but they did not have the emergency brake.

I hunted down some Eldorado calipers and with the hardware kit from captain fab I was off and running on getting that all done.

One thing you have to do on them drill and tap holes to install the keeper bolt that holds the bracket.
It’s a 5/16 - 18 thread. I used a 1/4” drill bit and tapped the hole.

Now either this week or weekend coming I need to order the parking brake cables and get it all hooked up correctly.

You guys should see a pretty decent push out of me to get this one going.
I have a show here in the DFW area I am going to try to debut the build at on September 10th.

Picked up some Dorman mirrors for the Jimmy

They look good but fit like shit
The bracket that holds the mirror and cover is too big in one spot so I am going to try to use the factory bracket with the black cover and mirror. If that doesn’t work I will trim the bracket.
On the bench it works good on the truck it will not go flush.

I will let you know how all that works out

Started working on the caddy caliper swap so I can have the e brake working.

One issue I have is that the braided lines I ordered from ORD the banjo fittings fit the k20-30 front calipers no problem which is what I had to start with.
Now that I have the Caddy calipers the banjo bolt is to small for for them.
Soooo I will have to either find an adapter or take the lines to a shop and get a new banjo fitting put on them.
I’m going to go for the last option

Back in business
I went to a hose shop that we use at work and had them put new banjo ends on the hoses.

They did a great job.

Got some good news today

Since I have this new completion goal or what I like to call phase 2 completion goals done in the name of time vs money. I took my engine harness to a shop to get chopped down.
He called today and said it should be completed by Saturday.

That will be a huge boost of morale for me on this project.

Then some so so news
Back some time ago you guys that have been watching the thread saw that I used a Cucv core support.
Well I started putting the front of the truck together and guess what?

You cannot use the Cucv support if you are doing the one up one down 86 headlight style. Due to the top headlight bucket location.
Yup that sucks! Have to pull the front apart again.

But the good news is I have a core support and it is at the powder coasters getting done as we speak.
Should not be to bad of a fix.

Worked on the mirror issue a little bit
So I used the factory bracket and that seems to help more but there is still a 1/8” gap between the gasket and the cover .
It’s not horrible but my OCD is kicking in full swing and I will be working on it a little more to see if I can fix it to where I can live with it.

That looks like it will be challenging fix.
But I wouldn't want to leave it as us either.

Are both sides the same issue? Can you still return the mirrors and get a different brand?

Yeah both sides are the same way.
I have done a little research and almost all replacements are that way from what people are saying.
I may just take originals and have them coated

But it looks to me that the factory covers are just a little bit longer forwards the door and that’s what closes the gap up.

We shall see
