operating temp of 96 vortech 454 at idle

Hi all I have a 96 1 ton with a 454 vortec at idle just sitting in the driveway the factory gauge reads on a 75 degree day 210 then I'll get n it and drive and it goes down to 200.Is this normal temp ranges.I've never had a 454 before and I don't know what themostats in it.Thanks

just to be safe, might take a blow gun and make sure the fins on the radiator are clean.

That vehicle should have a 195* t-stat in it so your temps are right in line with what they should be.

I too have an old body style 1 ton with the vortec 454 and it runs in the same range you listed... my sister's truck is also an old body style with the vortec 454 and it runs about 10-15 degrees cooler so I think it just depends on what t-stat you have...
