ORD or DIY shakle flip

So for the basic ord 3" lift its gonna be like $800. Wouldnt new leafs be about the same with everything?? Why not just get new springs??

You can also do most of this for almost nothing... Just sayin'... 52s/56s and a homebrew, FTW...:woot:

And I've been told that my Blazer rides like a "Caddy on Swampers"...:D

??? 52s/56s??

You move your stock rear 52" springs to the front and 56" springs from a 1ton or Burb in the rear... With a shackle flip it nets you 4-5 inches of lift and a really flexy set up... If you check out the link in my sig, it shows the whole kit n kaboodle...

It's a lot of work, but almost free and by far out performs any lift spring set up... Both flip kits are great products, I just built mine to save money... I built my shackles as well... And I built my own zero rate blocks... Cheap Rancho 5000 series shocks inboarded in the rear and $20 Ford towers in the front... Wham Bam thank you Ma'am...

Classic Blazer build... It's been done hundreds of times on here...

Speaking of stock shackles.
I did this to mine, to beef them up some.

They will outflex an off the shelf spring, yes, but I would hesitate to say they outperform them. They're not nearly as good on the street and they don't tend to last very long. Plus there's axle wrap etc. And you need crossover steering.

You can get all the flex you need out of a stock length spring.

I still run 52's up front, for the time being BTW.

and dont forget this guy sounds like a real beginer. thats why he is asking so many good questions.

so simple bolt on / safe driving / simple info is prob best for him.

i am not saying 52/56 swap is not for everyone. but def not a beginner setup if you ask me. and realy only needed for extream flex if you ask me.

Go back to post #36, He's changed his mind to NO lift and 33's.

I like the looks of the truck he found for show and tell also. Is there any complications with a set up like that for a DD non wheeled rig. Or maybe just a set of zerorates all around. Thats what I'm looking for too. The lowest lift possible with 33's and no real trimming.
