I already have the sbc Ord x member. But I boxed the fre and cant remember if I welded the nuts on inside of frame before I boxed it. So to save myself some hassle im curious if anybody knows of a oil pan that will clear the xmember? Or had any luck fitting a stock 5.3 with the sbc cross member?

Thats a bit pricey. There been a lot of people who have had very good luck and a few here who will say otherwise. Maybe Team208Motorsports has a better deal. Either way pacfab are good guys.

I just went there site, is it just wireing harnesses? I don't think there site is mobile friendly. Yea I'm trying to avoid any and all headaches. Also was looking at bdturnkey but there more expensive and don't offer a warranty. My nieghbor just got 4.8 to put in his jeep from the "U Pick It" got it home and Found 3 broken Manifold bolts in the head. I don't want the same surprise. I'm even considering taking the drive to pick it up so I know its haveing a safe journey.

Pacfabs probably the best bet. The warranty is worth its weight in gold. Their website is rough around the edges....id call in. They do it all I believe, including the turnkey motors.

Almost every LS engine I've seen has at least a few busted off exhaust manifold bolts--or will, when you go to remove them...they used some really dinky sized bolts on them. (8 mm?)....my friend has had to drill out and fix at least 30 of those bolts in the past year, and just about every salvage yard engine he goes to install, needs a few drilled out and heli-coiled..

Be wary with Pac Fab's tuning and power packages. I've seen some questionable stuff...

Removing broken exhaust manifold bolts is par for the course. Also easy to do. I usually just take one of the good bolts and weld it to the broken part that is sticking out and they come right out as easy as the bolts that did not break. I've never had one broken below flush or seized in.

Havent heard much on the tuning but damn their cam package is stupid expensive.

There is a vendor here on CK5 @Team208Motorsports who makes a killer cam package and does proper tuning for stand alone operation. He also offers wiring harness modifications as well and can probably help you find a powertrain if you need one as well. He fixes a lot of pac fab's mistakes for race guys and I couldn't recommend him enough.

That was the site that wasn't mobile friendly. I'm waiting til I get a day off and closer to getting the money too. I don't like talking on the phone about orders while at work. But u found a local place that sells 5.3 take out complete with harness and acc's. For $1650. And a 90 day warranty. Only downer is its stock tune and harness. And idk if motor is tested.

What type of mistakes and which race guys?

Just curious.

I've seen a lot of issues with how they disable various things in their tunes. They just disable the MIL enablers rather than actually shutting the various tests and such off by changing parameters and set points. They also remove critical inputs like the P/N switch or the VSS which causes all kinds of drivability problems.

Their engine tuning is kind of all over the place too, the VE tables & ignition tables are not always smooth and have random peaks and dips in them. I've also seen problems with DBW due to mix-matched components. Injector data is sometimes incorrect and I've seen them supply the wrong O2 sensors for the OS they are running. Some folks have had great success with them, others have had engines that don't run correctly and have poor support from the vendor when they try to get help.

I'd rather not name any names, some folks would take offense to that. Especially if pac fab is a sponsor or a friend.

What kind of motor mounts did you use?

I would like to know also

I have Energy Suspension polyurethane stock replacement mounts.

I know of small issues that come up from time to time, but they will bend over backwards to make it right with the customer. And customer support is available after hours and 7 days a week.

And being that all of their tuning is done in house now, I would guess the results are better and more consistent.

When we were racing 4400 and 4500 I was Pac Fabs crew chief at 90% of the races. And if we weren't at a race racing we were in the pits and providing support for sponsored racers, and even racers with engines from another big name supplier that have many issues and no at race support . I have never worked on a car with a Pac Fab caused issue and I see their motors come across the finish line.
