Out of allll the vehicles out there why did you go BLAZER?

because short wheelbase , CHEVY:bow: , TOP COMES OFF ,CHEVY, ROOMY INSIDE ,CHEVY , REAL MANS JEEP, CHEVY, FULLSIZE , I CAN KEEP GOIN , I HAVE OWNED TWO OF THEM ,

I've always been a fan of square body Chevy trucks and now I need a 4 seater.

Because a Chevy K5 Blazer is BAD.....ASS......PERIOD. No other reason matters.

I agree with c1090blazer, but also because I helped restore one in high school with a group of my buddies, and have wanted one ever since. They are (usually) easier to work on, roomier, and relatively cheaper to tinker with than later model vehicles.

Honestly? I built a model of one when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I've wanted one ever since. I mean, who wouldn't want a fullsize, box-body, 4x4, convertible Chevy truck?

It didn't hurt that I paid $300 for mine.

In 1986, it was the room over a reg cab, removable top and just looked badass lifted. I was a kid then (20 yrs old), now it just cool to still own it.

Don't ever have to say I wish I had never sold that K5 I had when I was kid.:D

Best wheeling platform out there! Solid axles, big V8s, good articulation, nearly perfect weight distribution, short wheel base... Can't be beat!

Owned 3 so far

First was an 88 with the 350(5.7) 700r4, I put a four inch lift in it, ran 33x12.5x15s. It was the first vehicle I drove/owned. Put my blood, sweat and tears into that one. Put a stereo that was heard 5 blocks away. Terrorized the town it was my UAV(Urban Assualt Vehicle). We would cram 13 people in it and go mudding and fording the rivers. That was stolen from me in Arizona. Sidenote: I hate that place

Second was a 91 blazer with the 350(5.7) 4l60e, and a four inch life with 33x12.5.15s. I had that one for around seven months and sold it to my sister. She used to drive my 88 before me. She has that one now. I installed Flex-a-lite electric fans and got 1.5-3mpg more.

Now I am in an 84 with a crate 350(5.7) and the 700r4. This one has 4.88 gears, 4 inch suspension lift, two inch body lift. Dual shocks up front, and 4 shocks in the rear. 37x12.5x15s Interco Radial TSL's. Just had to put a new alternator in it and am in the process of working out all the kinks. On a side not this rig is in Fresno,CA and noticed a few Fresno people on the sight. This rig was done by a shop called Whiplash(at least that is what I was told). If any Fresno readers have seen it, it is a big white blazer, let me know. Just curious.

You own a blazer because it is a way of life! It is not a new plastic truck that pretends to be four wheel drive, and most bro's don't drive them because they are not new enough or "cool" enough. It takes a certain person and personality to drive a blazer, and you don't drive a blazer, you merely guide it and it will get you there.

You got that right.

I have never came up with reason to sale mine, now that I'm rebuildeing it my kids think it is the coolest truck ever. They think they will get it when they can drive, but that's not going to happen unless I die first.

Yeah sure. That's what they all say.

Until they get one, and then dovetail it... ;)

NEVER!

If a wheeler needs something more dainty...I mean, compact...they can buy a Cherokee. I hear you can get them cheap nowadays, since all the soccer moms went crossover and bought new Hyundai Tuscons. :p:

I bought my 87' b/c when I was 19 I wanted my dream truck(this was in 07'). 87' was the first year TBI was out, and the year I was born. I've researched them since I was in middle school and didnt know jack about cars. I remember when you typed in CK5.com and brought up the site (didnt have a way to get a membership then I was like 12 or so). I poured through catalogs and such looking for parts and figuring out how much it would take for me to get one the way I wanted it. When I was 16, my single mom had a chance to get me a blue and white K5 with a lift and tires for cheap, but her being a single mom didnt have the funds to do so. When I got her to drop me off at the guys house I bought mine from, she almost cried b/c it was the same truck. And I'll never forget her being a mom and said "what if it has a cracked block" and I simply said, "I drove it yesterday on my lunch break and besides the ****ty handling its fine". Then my sister called me 30 mins later and she told me it was the same truck mom tried to buy me and my mama said the truck made me, I looked perfect in it.

My first truck was a V1500 burb, been working on and wheeling chevys ever since. When I rolled the burb I went with a K5 because it was lighter and shorter wheelbase

I wanted something that wasn't a land yacht, would seat 4 people, could tow with it, and could carry cargo without getting wet and the blazer fit those requirements perfectly. :thumb:

Quoted for the truth. Got mine in 1989 when I was 19, and it will never be sold. I basically bought mine for the same reasons, but I also bought it for the simplicity of it. For a young guy you can not get any simpler than a carbed 350 and solid axles with leaf springs.

To this day I still love it.

This goes for most of the GM trucks but seriously, I LOVE the motherFing interchangeability, which in turn means upgradeability! How cool is it to be able to upgrade our trucks, utilizing parts form other trucks? D60's 14FFs? Slap 'em in. No Hydro clutch offered originally for your year? Find your parts and put 'em on your truck.

I found it first! I wanted a truck so I didn't have to worry about the extra body in the woods here on the east coast. But the price was right, and with the extra seats I can take my whole family places instead of just me and one other person. Oh, and I was raised on Chevys and AMCs. I drive a pair of AMCs (Jeeps, but it's still the old AMC inline 6) for DD's and play with Chevys.
