Hello, looking for a picture from someone please.

My truck came with seats out of a tahoe. The seats are nice, but they don't slide forward enough for passengers to get in. I'm looking to put a tilt on the passenger side seat, maybe just some framework for the seats to bolt to. Just looking to get an idea of how they worked.

I didn't even know the blazers had a tilt seat until I pulled out the old carpet and saw the pads and locking pin lol. That would have been nice.

THANKS!

I've had both style's of passenger seat in various K5's over the years. Hands down the best design for entry/egress is the tip and slide in the newer ones.

yeah rene, that's tons of room. I wonder what the tilt looks like.
I think my gap is half that currently lol.

I was curious if I could put my old bracketry on the seats I put in the K5 (2008 Silverado seats) because of the same issue. I said screw it and they can recline the seat all the way and roll into the back if they have to. Otherwise, drive your own damn car.

I think it'd be relatively easy to add the slider assembly to new seats. It's only one anyways, the drivers seat just tips forward.

Rene

wait, the drivers seat tips forward??
is that for your year, cause my 85 has the pads and hook on the passenger side

does anyone have a pic of the tip mechanism and frame?
thanks!

Yeah, '86 up the drivers seat tips forward but doesn't slide. The passenger seat tips forward and slides. The seat base is very easy to bolt up to an older model too.

That isn't true. My 89 blazer BOTH seats slide and tilt forward and they are factory seats and brackets.

:what::what::what:
ok, now I'm confused more.
Rene, that picture of the seat doesn't look like it tips forward. The back yes, but not the base. Maybe I need to clarify my question better.

You know how the back bench seat tips forward. It has pins in the floor where the seat locks in. Well, on the ground behind my passenger seat, there are rubber pads and one pin. It looks like it's there to receive the seat frame and lock in, the pads there to take up vibration etc.

I didn't notice this until I pulled out the old carpeting, which was from a tahoe or something.

Yes, the back tips on the newer ones, and apparently starting in '89, both bottoms slide forward.

On the older ones, the driver seat doesn't move other than the usual forward-backward adjustment. The entire passenger seat tips forward, and that's the only thing it does. I can take pics of my '77, it's basically the same as '78 and up, but mine uses a pin instead of a hook. The front hinge is the same.

That's pretty weird that Scott's 89 both tip and slide, and my 90 it's only the pssenger one. I've had several sets of the tip and slide seats and never ran across a drivers seat that slid like the passenger side. Maybe somebody swapped the adjuster/slider or your rig before you got it Scott?

that would be great. I have an idea how to weld up some bracketry, but I'd still love to look at a stocker. I might use some angle, weld it up to bolt directly to my seats. Then can use the factory holes in the floor. In the front will be some heavy duty hinges, something like I use at work that's SS and bushing pins.

I'm real curious to see how the latch works.
Thanks

Here's my '77, the carpet is from a newer year so you can see exactly where the hook plate would be on yours.

I have the '78-later seat latch in my storage unit if you need a pic of it.

Nope, i have several friends around here with 90 and 91 blazers are they are just like mine, BOTH seat slide and the back tilts forward.

awesome pictures!
this is something you put together though right?
I like it.
hmmm

The brackets are the original for a '77, the seats and carpet are from an '82. The '82 seats are the same as the '77 high backs (early '77 was still the old low backs), just with different fabric. I used the carpet simply because it came free with the seats.

Here is a pic of an old base I have sitting around. Only tricky part of fabbing one up is the spring return for the lever.

BTW, I have a 91 that the driver seat does NOT slide on. I'm positive the seat was never swapped.

Can you take a pic so I can see how it is. I've never seen any 88-later blazer with a driver seat that didn't slide. I believe you but would like to see what GM did.

My 89 stock seat doesn't slide either, just the passenger side

Makes me wonder if the driver sliding seat was an option then. Guess i'll have to bust out the nice FACTORY facts book I bought from Lawrence and check into it.
