Passenger seat bracket picture request

I will get a pic of the 91 tomorrow. Too dark now.

Interesting observation, the seat posted by USSkoval has a base identical to my 71. The pic I posted above is from a late 70's (lever on side, not back and the attachment to the floor is different). I took the high back seats from the donor, swapped the frames and put them in my 71. Anyway...

I just took a look through the factory facts book and there is no mention of a driver side sliding front seat but it does mention the passenger sliding front seat. FWIW my 89 is a Silverado which is the upper end of the Scottsdale package so that could be the deal as well.

The seat that USSkoval posted is identical to the one that was in my 76 blazer.
 
My 91 is a Silverado as well. I have the original window sticker somewhere, will have to see if the seats are listed as an option.

I thought the '73-'77 base was the same as the first gens, but wasn't sure. That pic you posted, the base has to be from a '78. That's when they went to the hook style, and also added the rear passenger footwell. The rear floor is in the way on a '77, there's not quite enough clearance for the hook base. You can see this in the pic I posted. There is still the outline on the carpet where the bezel would have been.

Also, a friend of mine used to have a '91. I plainly remember the driver seat didn't slide, but it was a base model with vinyl seats.
 
The side handle release is the one my wife hates the most. She got hung up on the handle once...she went to get out and caught her shorts on the handle, ended up hanging there for a second or two until the shorts ripped and she fell. :doah:

Those seats got changed to the tip and slide version very quickly after that. :haha:

:haha::haha:, I know all about it, ripped the pocket off my shorts sliding out of the seat in a buddies blazer.

4X4HIGH...here are those pictures. Wow, blazer is WAY overdue for a cleaning :o

That is a drivers seat that slides. You can clearly see the release lever and the spring that pulls the seat forward.

That's just a standard adjustable seat track.

I think we are all misunderstanding each other. Both seats have an adjustable slide, but the passenger seat does more. The passenger seat back can be tipped, which pulls a little cable, which then lets the whole seat slide forward on the main track. Then you can push it right back and it will be automatically right back adjusted where it was before. The driver seat only has the manual adjustment.

*note* that big spring in the pic is there simply to aid the seat in moving forward during an adjustment (with the adjusting knob). All GM seats have that, but they often break and fall off.

My factory 89 blazer passenger seat does no such thing, it is manually adjusted just like the driver seat is.

If you grab the seat back, lean it forward (there might be a release button, I don't remember) and the seat bottom does not slide forward, then there is a problem. There is a little cable under the side covers that is probably broken.

I'm assuming you didn't buy yours new?
 
I found a pic of when I installed the newer setup in my old K5. The plastic cover is off and you can see the cable and where it pulls the release on the lower track.

Well, i'll be damned if there isn't a cable on the passenger side of my seat just like your pic. I removed the lower cover and I can see why mine doesn't slide forward when the back release lever is pulled and the seat back tilted forward. It appears that the cable housing is broken and when the seat back tilts forward it just pushes the whole housing down instead of pushing the button/cable to release the mechanism. Guess I should hit the wrecking yard tomorrow and see if I can find a good cable and fix this. I hate having broken stuff (if I know it's broken that is). Thanks for that last pic. :thumb:
 
When you're looking for a cable, check out 2dr S10 Blazers and 2dr Cavaliers also, as the cables are the same (or at least really close);)
 
I like the idea of being able to have the seat go back to the adjusted position without having to readjust it.
 
how come all these newer seats just tilt and slide?
Is my '85 different? Meaning, I've seen the one picture of the tilt foward seat, but that was an older style setup. When did they stop with the tilt forward latch and pin in the floor?
 
I'm reasonably sure '86 was the first year for the tilt and slide seat, 85 should have had the pin to the floor style.
