Brought the 5.3 home yesterday. Figured it was time to start the swap thread that way questions can be asked and answered from all angles. The 5.3 is out of a 2000 Silverado 4x4. I got it complete with harness and computer minus the starter for 500 bux. It has 130,000 miles on it. The guy I bought it from was financially strapped and I pounced on the situation.

I will be doing my own wiring with help from lt1swap.com and will do my best to detail as much as possible. Wish me luck.

Decided that I am going to go the way of building my own fuse block described on lt1swap.com. Just ordered everything that was listed for the fuse block build. One step closer. Up next, Dirty Dingo Mounts. Wish I could have sourced these electronics locally, the shipping cost more than the parts.

Well, started to take the wiring harness off the 5.3 and found this.

I hope its part of the harness that gets deleted. Can't believe I missed this in the inspection before I bought it.
Also on the same run of wires farther down the loom another connector cut.

Anyone with information on what these were for would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any other connectors on that leg of the harness? It appears to be the pass side o2's and MAF leg of the Harness.

Alright figured it out. This is from lt1swap.com

This is my harness

I can replace the MAF plug easily. Do I need any of the front and rear 02 sensors that are cut off. Or will this be deleted?

You will need the front o2. Rear typically gets removed.

Alright folks I have a few questions. First, getting ready to start reworking the harness. I'm using the lt1swap.com guide to do this. However, he says to get rid of the Delivered Torque Signal wire, won't I need this since I'm going to be using a 4l60E transmission? Also he says to get rid of the Cruise Control Engage Signal. I would like to keep cruise control so should I keep this wire? He also says to get rid of the 4 wheel drive Front axle switch. Not sure what this does or if I need it. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, the Delivered Torque Signal has to do with the traction control. I wont have this on my 91 k5, so it DOES get deleted. I'm guessing that the 4 wheel drive front axle switch is also not needed since the transfer case that I have is manually put into 4wd. Still trying to figure out the cruise control engage. I have made some progress though.
Engine harness labeled and off.

Clean up started.

I'll be following along on this.....I'm getting mine ready to do the same thing in a few months.

The LT1Swap site is a great site. If you have any questions on what wiring where.... Just tag me in a post.

WARNING!!!!!!!!
Alright folks, something that is not pointed out on the lt1swap.com site is that this THICK 14 GAUGE PURPLE WIRE is the wire that runs to the starter. Once you cut it from the fuse block, LABEL IT. Started taking this out of the harness and got to the end and realized that this is the starter wire. MUST HAVE. don't pull this out just snip it from the fuse block.
