To qualify the Belzona a little, we have used it on bottom blow in a 600lb steam system. It was cracked and not broken thou.
With both halves mechanically held it may work.
 
I am reading about the Belzona products now. Never heard of them before.

The EWARP is something I thought about, but access is very limited to the back and bottom sides of the manifold because of the engine mount. I could remove them if I need to.
 
We have used belzona to build up propulsion shafts and then machine them back down to tolerance. Not on a Sub or anything but it has been used. We also used it to do underwater epoxy repairs to holes in the hulls of the Torpedo Retrievers:D

I don't see anything on the Belzona stuff that indicates it will withstand the heat any better than the stuff I tried today.

Anyone know what a normal EGT is for these engines?
 
For all 3 of the ones you mentioned?

I am really starting to wish I had $800 to just do this the correct way and be done with it.
 
Don't remember what you are running Brian. What is this for, pass. side 350? I will look and see if we might have an old one laying around in the shop since we phased out of almost all GM's now.:wink1:

I would think it would be no more than 1300 at the most. I am not sure what the temp specs on the exposies are though. I was thinking JB weld but it is only good to about 600 for 10 min:(.

Does loctite make anything?

I am going to run Hedman 69830's but money is an issue right now. No point in running shorties as far as I know.

My buddy at the local NAPA said JB weld would melt like a marshmallow on the manifold after a few minutes. I may just have to order the Permatex stuff and try it out. Could be good information for someone in the future at a minimum.
 
I just ordered two of the Permatex tubes. Only 0.7 Oz each so that better be enough of a patch.

I'll let everyone know how it worked after this weekend.
 
I was going to say, how much would someone shipping you a good, used manifold cost vs. that stuff?

I know it's probably a bit, but if it fit in a flat rate box... :)
 
I thought about that, but with my work schedule right now I don't have hte time to be messing around with this. I will be underway next week, and the truck needs to be mobile before tuesday at 0400.

Plus this stuff needs a product review, and I already told the wife if I had to remove this manifold one more time, that I would never put another set of them on again. Now it comes down to me being stubborn and proving a point.
 
Anther line of products similar to belzona is devcon. Its what we use at work for many different things. I personally love the stainless steel putty. its an epoxy that can be drilled and tapped later. Holds on great too. I don't know of anything in the exhaust temperature range but they might have something.
 
I've tried a few different kinds of that putty to patch exhaust leaks, its just putting a bandaid on it. It may work for a short period of time (maybe a few weeks tops) but its gonna crack and fall off and its a pain to clean off to reapply it or weld on it. That being said im gonna weld on an exhaust leak right now, i decided to put a permanent fix on it this time and not mess with that stuff.
 
I just returned form being underway and the battery was dead. It is on the charger now so I should be able to test it out tomorrow.

I am leaving tomorrow at 1030 and won't be back until Wednesday. I guess I will test the wireless out when we go out:D.
