Actually, dad's has been disconnected for many years, if I do get it back, I'm gonna have to figure it out.

I can tell you that those options are somewhat rare, but combined with the 6 cylinder, a lot more rare. The 6 cylinder tachometer is something in a class by itself. Not many of those out there. Usually the smaller engines got combined with a low option count to keep the cost of the truck lower.
Maybe others have a different take on this, but this has been my experience.

In 1973-1982, the tach was only available with the V8 engine.

Thanks, yeah, it would mean a lot to me. But we'll see, I'm trying not to get anxious or get my hopes up. Just have to see what happens.
It was bare bones when Dad got it. Didn't even have a back seat, my sister and I rode on wooden boxes for the first year or so. lol.
He added an aftermarket cruise control, which I'd like to get rid of and put the stock turn signal lever back on. He also added powder steering and HEI, which I would leave on there. My plans are pretty much to not touch a thing.

Sigh. I just came in to work to start cleaning up and taking apart the 14 bolt. I wasn't sold a 4:10 as he said, it's a 3:73.
I don't know what to do now. Just button it back up and try to sell it, or maybe even regear it myself. If it was a 4:10, i was going to take the front axle in and have it regeared to match, they quoted me $350 for a bench gear swap. Now this is a whole different animal. The axle looks really nice inside too, no water, looks hardly even worn.

I bought some rustoleum rust dissolver stuff, I figure i'd try that out.
I'm kinda starting to think now I might try swapping the gears myself. Its perfect situation for learning, the axle is on jackstands, if it takes 3 weeks, so be it.
Probably be a good education. It will cost more than just trying to find one, but I'll learn something. Then maybe I can do the 10 bolt myself.
Can you get a good bearing separator?
Do you have access to a press?
Will buy a harbor freight press. As for a bearing separator, I have no clue, I guess I'd have to find one or find someone to borrow one from. And the inch pound torque wrench isn't easy to source either.
You'll also need a dial indicator
Pretty sure we have one of those at work. And digital calipers, I know I have those.
