Phil's '88 Big Blue Build Thread

Just realized that I didn't quite phrase that right. I don't mean the bearings are identical (not sure, haven't checked). I just meant the spindles and bearing ID dimensions match. I bought new K20 bearings for my K20 hubs and then slid them onto my K10 spindles. OD dimensions visually looked to be the same, but I didn't measure them. :dunno:

You were going to replace the bearings anyway, right? :dunno:

Yeah, Might As Wel . . . . wait a minute.

I would reuse your current bearings and races, so long as they pass visual inspection.

Nothing wrong with that, but that Timken bearing I looked up was $5.74. At that price, even I would rather buy new, in the hopes that I would never hafta touch it again.

Either way, I would definitely replace the seal if I had the option.

I see a few front 10 bolts on clist for $100 or so. I'm thinking it would be worth getting one so I can rebuild it and change everything to 8 lug "on the bench" so to speak. Would make life easier in the long run.

Never see one for sale with 8 lugs? :dunno:

Like I said earlier, there has only been one listed on Clist for the last 6 months or so, and it's $675. And I'd still need to regear it.

I'm good with this direction. In fact, if i do it off the truck, I can send the spindle out to be machined for crossover, so I'd have that out of the way.

You mean the steering knuckle? :dunno:
