Phil's '88 Big Blue Build Thread

Yeah, I have a grinder. Just need to find my motivation, I think it's in a box somewhere.

I thought your trip through Moab was gonna supply you with enough motivation to build 3 entire trucks from scratch. In just 2 weeks. While also working 80 hours at work. And taking tap-dancing lessons.

Maybe I overestimated the Moab effect. :dunno:

Yeah, videos just can't possibly convey how it feels. You are either pointing impossibly up at the sky, or impossibly straight down into the ground. And having to run up a tall fin right out of the parking lot was genius. I had to get a grip pretty quick.

Haha! Yeah the first time I went I was like "we can drive up that???"

oh I can't wait :woot:

@Phil513 glad to hear the truck performed well for you.

Thanks, I was really happy with it. I did put a small dent in the gas tank, so a skid plate is on the list.

This is something that I need to track down for the camping truck. It seems odd switching from the K10 to the Suburban...I think I'm gonna miss my dual saddle tanks.

Your truck did way good for being pretty mildly built. I was following you so I was just like "well he made it so I guess I can too" when we came to an obstacle. You did lose a little rubber whenever you had to make a sharp turn on that slickrock with your rear locker but that's what you gotta give up I guess to be locked.

Yeah, that noise was actually a bit comforting. hahaha

I know. And the biggest problem is, the general consensus is my front 10 bolt won't last long if I do.

We'll see, I have time to figure it out. Even though I'm not working on it, I'm pondering.

Didn't you just buy those brand new 35s? Sounds like chucking that investment to me.

On the other hand, never mind. I'll give you $200 for the set.

My rear locker was chewing through them pretty good at Moab. lol
