Picked up a new truck yesterday!

Took the blazer up and tried out the new tires in the snow. They did very very good! Planned on taking many pics but got two... Both up at timberline on Mt.hood.

Went on another trip yesterday in blazer. About 150 miles. left portland and went up to government camp on mt hood. Decided to take the other way home which took me around the other side of the mountain to hood river and home on I-84.

Very nice. That's the condition that I want to get my '76 back to someday. Hey you're local. Maybe I'll see you around sometime.

Its nice. Did the whole trip including the little bit of "snow wheelin" etc, then cruised the freeway at 70mph for an hour on the way home. Was just a pleasant drive the whole time. As far as being local, im right on the border of gresham and portland on the north side. The Blazer is my daily driver so thats what i would most likey be seen in. What would i see you in?

Also fyi, These tires flat out rock in the snow!!! The only thing is i think they may hydro plain really badly. Maybe any tire would have in the conditions but on my way up the mountain yesterday there was about 2" of standing water in a puddle about 20ish feet long and when I hit it, I about lost control. They also seem to have a tough time with standing water in the "ruts" of the road.

I have yet to see a tire not do that in so much water except the boggers, they act like paddles in that much water.
Even my big rig with 80k lbs has a problem with the water in ruts and a couple of inches of standing water.

I'm in Gresham south of Powell and west of Eastman Parkway. The only thing I could be identified in would be when I'm driving the 1990 white Blazer. When I drive my red 2006 F250 I blend into the background with all of the other red diesels on the road.

yokohama geolander m/t is the only tire that i have found that you can drive on portland highways without hydroplaning.
left lane on 217 south during a down pour gets pretty dangerous, especially if you get close to the barrier.

i sware i have seen your blazer before, but i dont get over to that side of town very often.

Sweet rig.

A buddy of mine picked up those tires for his '78 Bronco, and as far as I can tell he loves them too. Looks like they do pretty well in the snow?

Oregon looks so beautiful, hopefully one day I can take a vacation & drive up there :)

Word to the wise... When working on your tail gate and you think, "oh cool, this bolt here in the middle of the latch mechanism looks like an adjuster bolt that if adjusted will fix an issue im having. I'll just loosen it and adjust away! Ok, Lefty loosy, righty tighty!" That thought is wrong! That bolt is reverse threaded and will promptly snap in half if you attempt to loosen it! That being the case, im done for today. Gotta hit up the hardware store tomorrow and see if they carry reverse threaded bolts. If not, look for a wanted add soon for something like, "WANTED: Blazer tail gate latch mechanism reverse threaded bolt" Or something to that effect....

Oh yeah, the reverse thread bolt in the handle latch mechanism doohickey. If it helps, it's the same mechanism in the Burb tailgate.

Good to know. There is a local hardware store here in portland that has a very awesome selection of off the wall hardware so i think i should be able to find one there easy enough. But, if not, to the junk yards i go!

sorry to hear you may need to sell her......i've been eying those tires for a while now. they will be my next tire.

I have those exact tires on my blazer. I really like them except for the fact that they are only 31s. PO put them on the rig. they were awesome over the pass this winter

217 is and axis of evil...that and the 26 from silvin to the tunnels. such a huge time suck. i often drive waaaaaay out of my way to avoid those spots.

but the biggest problem with the portland highways are the people on it :D

We'll see. Dude offered me $3250 but i told him i have to get $3500 for me to get myself to sell it. So, if he has the money and wants it, i'll let it go. Its an awesome truck but stuff just dont sell for that kind of money any more and i REALLY want money to fix up my suburban which is where the money to buy this truck came from in the first place.
