Getting back to work on my Blazer and it is time to pick out my FI system.

1989 TBI Blazer

383 with Vortec heads, a medium cam, headers, 700R4 with 4.56 gears

Option #1 I have an older Edelbrock MPFI intake that uses my existing CPU. Edelbrock will burn a PROM for a stock Vortec 350 for $50 but will not modify it

Option #2 I missed a Mercury MPFI system off a Vortec 383 that I should have bought but I snoozed and lost but there are others out there.

Option #3 Sell what I have and buy a new Pro Flo 4. The most expensive option but maybe the least headaches.

There are probably other options too

Im going with option 4. Vortec heads, 406 small block, Ramjet intake, whipple super charger, 0411 LS ECM. I got lucky on the Ramjet, got it 95% complete for $600. But you could use a 4-barrel intake with an elbow to mount LS style TB, and use LS injectors in the intake. Or go with all Vortec stuff, using the LS ECM. Many done this with great results....

The 2001-2002 Express 2500 has a Vortec 5.7 with the 0411 ECM . I can use everything except the injector connectors but I have the Edelbrock for that. I even have a Holley 670 cfm throttle body that fits my intake. This was my route until I saw the Pro Flo 4

I say go with this fuel injection set up. :D

Definitely not up on newer ECU tuning and what not. But I can say that whatever you end up with needs to have the ability to tune. Assuming these setups arent running a wideband O2 sensor, the displacement change alone is going to require it, to get anywhere close to maximum performance the setup may be capable of. Just slapping a stock 350 ECU in there isnt going to cut it.

A lot of us here in Alaska run the Sniper with excellent results . It’s been reliable and easy to use . We take our trucks and airboats into the remote backcountry where breakdowns could literally mean death.

I have also messed with 0411 , using Efi Live for tuning. I’m still pretty new to the game but so far it’s been pretty straight forward with all the info available online.

My buddy recently purchased a Holley dominator setup for his LS based build , so we will be messing with that for his Airboat build.

BTW what are y'all doing for a fuel pump? I thought I saw a conversion for a high pressure in tank pump that replaces the one I already have or should I just go for an inline pump?

Does my truck already have a return line?

You will love the Dominator, can do pretty much anything with it. I think it sets the standard for capability right now, and all in a single box.

I also think the Edelbrock is awesome for less money and being self tuning and easy to use. It just depends on what you are doing with them.

I’m sure the Edelbrock is great , I have no personal experience with it though .

I’m excited to mess with the dominator , should be fun!

If it's an 89 K5, then yes you have a return line. With a TBI fuel tank you already have, it's easy, just install an EP381 fuel pump (designed for late 90's Tahoe's with vortec's). Same size as older TBI pumps so fit inside your existing tank/hanger, but puts out the higher ~60 psi pressure you need to run vortec or aftermarket EFI setups. You will probably want to redo your fuel lines from the tank to the motor as the original TBI lines were not meant to handle those types of pressures, but that's not too bad of a process.

As far as aftermarket goes. In my family so far we've had real good success with FI tech (summit brand EFI system). So far we put it on a fresh rebuilt 350 we put in my dad's suburban (mild cam, aftermarket heads, etc.). And my brother just put the exact same system on the very healthy 383 he has in his built crawler on 2.5 tons and 47" tires. He first did TBI on that motor with a 454 throttle body and tried having it tuned. It ran, but he never could get it to run exactly right. So bought the FI tech system, and right out of the box it ran so much better, especially at idle and right off idle. He did a small bit of tuning with the included handheld and so far his is running really good and he's been very happy. And as I said before, it's a very healthy 383 (aftermarket heads/intake, high compression pistons, pretty steep cam, etc.). Just another option to look at I guess

Walbro 255 in tank pump. Easy install, cheap, and similar size. You do have a return line already. Don't mess with in line pumps.

I went with Edelbrock PF4. Love it! Just depends on your budget and how much work you want to do on tuning. LS ECU will require a qualified tuner and dyno to make it run correct. Haltech Elite 2500 is another good option but more $$$ and tuning required.

I PUT A HOLLY SNIPER WITH HYPER SPARK DISTRIBUTOR ALSO C/D BOX . RUNS LIKE A TOP , ON MY 70 BLAZER WITH 383 STROKER

You're one of the few that hasn't had issues with Sniper. You should read @sweetk30 thread on what he went through on his. Their tech support was a joke.

and both kits from holley / sniper or edelbrock pro flo 4 are about 100 bucks apart . but you get sequential port fuel injection / 7" tablet with no cord and instant update of changes with pro flo 4 over the 3.5" screen of the sniper and upload/down load key on off restart for changes . sniper lies on there box info and pictures showing they will display fuel pressure but the sniper don't support this super sniper up i heard does . pro flo 4 its right on there screen . pro flo 4 is factory progressive throttle linkage . sniper is 1:1 race car style with super stiff gas pedal feel my ankle hurt driving 10-15 min worth . bone stock 350 brand new engine from gm got 6.5mpg with sniper . pro flo 4 jumped to atleast 2x this in first tank of fuel . @ed baba

anyway each to there own just hope you don't have bad luck with any kit like i did .

I've used the fitech kits twice and the MSD atomic tbi as well.
MSD kit went on my stock 67 Buick 340. Works flawless. I used the MSD distributor to have timing control, which is awesome.
First fitech went on a C10 with a mild 350/350 combo. Couple laps around the block and 3300 miles round-trip on Power Tour. Running it with an HEI and their fuel commander pump setup.
Second one is in a 70 Camaro with a healthy 383 and 4 speed. Ran like shit with carb. Tried three total. Installed a Spectra in tank pump assy. It is an absolute animal now. Timing control with jegs distributor. Just did 2800 miles of Power Tour and averaged 16.5 mpg with 3.73s.
I live at 8500ft. Pretty much only option to have your cake and eat it. All three installs were over two lazy days each.

Not to contradict , but we have had excellent experience with the Sniper , and have not really needed any tech support . The only thing we have called them for was to get spare sensors to keep on the rigs/boats because of the remoteness of where we take them . They where more then helpful , we ended up getting off the shelf parts from Napa .

then your lucky @yellowK20 . when i started having problems right out of the box first fire up i did some hunting and found LOTS of others with the same problems or worse some dead out of the box brand new . but like i said to each there own and good luck with what you pick out .
