Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

omg i just read the entire thread and im at a loss for words. incredible build! suscribed! everything from the burb to the boats has me:eek1::bow::D:thumb:

Wow those boats are simply amazing. I had to change out the 454 motors in a Fountain one time and they were so crammed in there I hurt for a week. They were right next to each other in the boat though. The radiator looks great too.

Ok..here is the update. I got the cam degreed. I installed the rods and pistons....so I officially have a short block. I sent the heads to the machine shop to cut a little off of them. I am bumping up the compression ratio to 10:1. I also threw all the GM valves in the garbage (junk) and ordered Manley sever duty stainless intake and inconel exhaust valves. When I get them back....they will go on and it will start coming together quickly. I also ordered the gm serpentine system from jegs. Got one box and a backorder notice on the second box. So, I have the brackets....but no accys. Called Jegs and they dont know when they will get the rest of it. Hopefully it will be in by the time I get the heads and hardware back.

One more of the pistons ready to go in. I took a break and went to the mountains. I did some riding in my Rhino that I put a 1000cc rotax v twin in with my Navigator Wyllis.

they didnt tell you why it was on backorder?

thats a sweet little rig! bet it flies

Nope. Evidently the kit is in two boxes. If you get an SBC set up. They send you SBC brackets and I assume all the accys are the same. If you get the BBC, you get BBC brackets in one box and then the common accy box that is used in both kits. They have really been pushing these kits on everybodys web site....and gm is not giving a release date. Hopefully it wont be long.

The rhino is insane. It has long travel with 16" of travel at each corner. You can hit 3' washouts running 40mph and it just soaks it up. I can run off and hid from RZR's or built rhinos like they have 450cc motors. It still has all the 2wd/4wd and lockers front and rear. I can even turn the rear end off and do front digs since I have the motor in backwards. I am driving the rearend off of the engine front output. I have put over 500 miles of hard rockcrawling / trail use with 0 failures. But, I spend over 200 hrs doing the conversion.

If I do 550hp or less, I will do the fast learning efi (dying to try that out) if it is north of 550hp, I will do the mefi 4 ecm and do my own tune. Tune it on the dyno with a wideband o2 and then final tune it in the truck with a wideband o2.

This is a little old but since you haven't completed that part I thought I would mention it. That EZ-EFI will support up to 650 hp with higher fuel pressure. Even more if you change the injectors. All while still using the 1x4. Or you can mount multiport injectors and still use the 1x4(just not those injectors), and support a lot more and still use the EZ-EFI controller if you want. I am seriously considering putting that on my 489 too.

Flood!!

OK, here is the update. As most of you know Nashville got hit by a 500 year flood. I got freakin pounded. I lost the first floor of my home. We had just finished a TOTAL restoration of our home about 60 days ago. New floors, appliances, stone on the outiside...granite counter tops, custom kitchen cabinets...the works....and we lost it all. I did not have flood insurance because I do not live in a flood plane. State Farm is not covering any of it. I had saved for 5 years to do all of this and borrowed money too. A fema rep was here yesterday and was a total dik. We are waiting to hear next week on if we will get any help on that. We have the lower level gutted and dried out and cleaned up but that is about it. We lost all our furniture too. My shop flooded.....but I have a drain all the way down the middle and I eventually opened up the big door (the elevation is 5' higher than the house is). I didnt have any water damage...but I had 2" of mud over 2300 square feet that I shoveled out myself then pressure washed the entire floor.

So, needless to say, the 572 project hasnt made much progress. I changed the engine bags everyday for a week to try and keep moisture out. (the short block was finished). I finally got the heads back from the machine shop where I decked them. I switched to a .027 Cometic head gasket. My new compression ratio is right at 10:1 after cc'ing my chambers and measuring how far my piston is in the hole and accounting for head gasket quench. I got Manley severe duty stainless steel intake valves and extreme duty Inconel exhaust valves. Comp springs and titanium retainers. I increased the spring pressure on the seat and decreased it over the nose compared to stock as I will never turn this motor over 6,000 rpm. I will post some pics of the heads and hardware shortly as I am getting ready to start lapping valves putting the heads together.

Here are a few more parts pics. I got some new motor mounts. I am going to use suspension limiting straps on the front of the engine to keep it from breaking the mounts and still have vibration protection. I finally got all my gm serpentine kit in too. I got a billet aluminum sandwich adapter so I can hook my built in oil cooler in the Be Cool up to the engine.

Man I'm sorry to hear that. We went through the same thing in Katrina. Had six feet of water and everything ruined. FEMA came out and they were pretty much no help. We had insurance because we live on the water but they aren't much help either. Maybe you can get another FEMA rep out there. Some are better than others

Thanks guys....we will get through it. I have been through worst things than this. I'm just worried about my wife right now. All of the stress has kicked her Lupus into overdrive so she is really suffering right now as if we don't have enough to worry about. I am not complaining though. I drive down the street and look at other homes completely gutted with condemned signs stuck on the front door. We were VERY lucky. We did not get hurt physically and the toys all survived. One of my buddys dodge dually went under trying to get to me to help us (we were cut off at both ends). I am going to do something really nice for him when I get back on my feet.

Wow, Terrible news.. I can't believe how bad that flood was. Glad to hear your not letting the tragedy bring you down. Can't wait to see the serpentine kit installed. Take Care!

Dang brother! That's not good. I have a lot of friends up there near Clarksville that got hammered to. Not good for anyone.

I hope the FEDs offer some relief for everyone up there. I also hope your wife starts to feel better as well.

Good luck on all that.

Very sorry to hear about the damage to your house. That has to suck having that extra burden on you having to rebuild without any assistance yet. You certainly have a better attitude about it than I would.....you have my respect. I hope all works out and that your wife gets better as well.
