Pics of roof racks on Burbs/Blazers??

The rack in the pic in question is a commercial unit. I nearly bought an ex News Reporter Sub that had the same rack on it.
That's what my sub used to be. The PO bought it from the news station when they retired them. I'm curious about the one you were going to buy did it look like mine? I saw one like my sub about 2 weeks ago off the 118 freeway all stock like the way it used to look. It suprised the hell out of me I thought for sure I was never going to see one like mine.

As best as I can tell it did. Does yours have a square section in the middle of the rack missing?

Martin's Double R Towing in Ventura had/has the one I was looking at. Had an engine with a rod knock. This one still had the antenna mast in it which is why I was interested in it. Planned to use it for a desert race pit/chase vehicle. Figured to mount 4 halogen worklights and a race radio antenna on the mast. It had a 4kw genset where the spare used to live and a Thomas 12 VDC air compressor under the hood. The mast needed both to work. Martin insisted on selling them seperately and I never could get a price out of him for the Sub. Finally gave up.

The rack is done. Roughly 110" X 52" X 7". I just can't see where anything but custom mounts will really work without spending a ton of $ on commercial mounts.

It has been suggested that I simply bolt it directly to the roof (with some sort of rubber in between) as the inside rails of the rack sit flush with the roof line.

Rack is made out of 1/2" square tube and the botom supports are 3/4" square tube. Weighs about 75lbs.

Any reason not to just bolt it to the roof through the existing braces?

roof racks

Way to go freak! You made the rack the same length as roof of your truck! Now where are you gonna mount the air horns! I mounted mine on the hood.

The rack is a Cargo Master Serengetti. http://www.kargomaster.com/serengeti.asp
The way it is attached is I junkyarded the factory roof rack of a early 90's Jeep Cherokee (they are by far the longest I could find). They are the traditional C-Channel roof rack. They aem in both chrome and Black. I went with black. I attached it just like it was on the Jeep with Nut inserts that install like a Pop Rivet. Little Vulkem sealent to make sure it was water proof. I made a short set of feet for the rack to keep it tight to the roof. Its about 2 inches of the center. I'm 225 and I can walk on it no problem.

I may move the Big Hella's up top. The side lights are cheep lights from Norther. Low profile for alley and rear.
