Pictures! Just got new rims & tires on the '73

Should I run trim rings on these rims?

  • No. They'd look better nekkid.

  • Yes. Those rims are too white and blind me.

Ok after this post I'm done padding. Promise.

The next time I post pictures of my Blazer it will be topless and somewhere other than my boring driveway. I just washed it and took some cool-looking overhead shots today and wanted to share them. It's 55 degrees out today but there is still lots of road salt on the road that needs to be washed away by rain before I can drive it anywhere. After this I'm done posting truck pictures until I get some topless shots...:D

I was browsing online a few days ago and found another K5 with the same Lime Green paint as mine and in same the excellent shape from what I could see. It's a '74 Jimmy that was for sale in Utah. It boasts a 500ci fuel-injected Caddy motor. I think they were asking $12K :D

Sweet! Are those the 8" stock wheels you looked forever for?
I wish I had known they were so rare. I tossed one set and have another set I have kept around for rollers:doah:

That is one CLEAN looking Blazer - and a stick no less! I say give it the bling!

You should buy it!
As much as I would love to have it, two super nice Blazers would be too much for me. If I ever get a second Blazer it would be a winter/trail rider-type truck in so-so condition. There's actually one right by my house for sale. The guy wants $1500. It's a total rust bucket. If I had enough room on my property or somewhere to keep it I'd try to get it for a beater.

Here it is. It's a Skyline Blue '73. The guy claims 60K on the drivetrain.

Yeah it was an off-and-on 10-year search for these rims. They're super-hard to find. There are no good key words on the internet to locate them and whenever you try to tell someone what you're looking for they always think you're talking about 4x4 Rallys :doah:

On top of that nobody thinks they're worth the trouble to sell on the net so naturally they're nowhere to be found.

The set I have now I got off a truck that was for sale on eBay. After the auction I emailed the winning bidder (who lived a 1/2 hour away) and he sold me the rims because he was switching them for...4x4 Rallys

Here's the truck on eBay with my rims on it before I got them.

I have thought about getting these rims acid dipped and powder coated and running them with my AT's. I would love to get a set of old school caps and rings to run, but I'd get bling fever then...

I grew up riding around in a '76 K5. Craig, lemme say that's a nice looking truck. Kinda nice to see the prices have gotten a bit more realistic lately. Seemed like from the mid 90's on you could name your price and get it for a rust free pre IFS GM truck.

Damn, why did I let dad sell the K5...
