Piecing together a full vert! (This Blows)

I wouldn't spend the time and money on a gear swap, and only go to one step. When I pulled 3:73's out and went 4:56 in my '70, it was nice with the 33's. I thought about 4:88, and now that it has 35's , I wish that it had 4:88 gears. It has a big block.
With the 5.3, I would give it a chance to wind up. And then look into a tune.

When I get it up in RPM it does have some power. I think you are right 4.88 would be correct.
I have some time to think about it, winter is a ways away, hopefully....
Car-part.com does have some lq9s with low miles for not too bad of prices around here

Well got the NOS doors painted and installed. They fit so much better than the old ones! I also added a Tuffy security console and put it some stall mats from tractor supply, makes the drive more comfortable.

This weekend the blazer got some towing duties. Took my friends old wood Chris Craft speed boat out on the lake. Blazer did great pulling, even in the high heat. Got a lot of thumbs up and comments on the blazer boat combo. I did lose power steering at the end of the trip, will have to check into that.

Well found out the power steering pump went bad. After some digging on the internets found people upgrade their pumps with AC Delco 20756710. It is for the B4V package and 7,200lb power brake booster trucks. So I have one of those on order, along with a Derale 13215 Plate and Fin power steering cooler.

There's a mod you can do to the fitting/valve on the output port of a pump to get more flow/power too I think. I have heard of it but not ever done it since all my Chebbies have hydroboost with a good pump setup already. I think @Bent77 might know and I think I saw someone else on here used an astro van pump with good success which might be similar to what you ordered.

Interesting, i'm going to look into that as I wait for my new pump.
Honestly the old pump did fine, I think it was just it's time. If I have to replace it might as well upgrade it.

I followed those directions on mine and cracked 2 pump housings in a row and then ended up just putting a stock one in to get my truck going. I need to do something to it though because I don't have enough flow at idle with my ram assist now. I'm just afraid to mod it again, not sure what I was doing wrong?

Man I don’t know. Never cracked a pump housing.
I’ve blown several hoses off though....

That's what happens when your hose isn't up to the task! Or is there a more serious issue?

 :rotfl:

.............. Should I say something?.....Nah better not.... LOL!

I wonder if I should see how this pump performs before I mod it? It does have a warranty so if it gives up the ghost I can dig into the next one.

Finished up the power steering over the weekend so the Wife and I took it for a drive the other night. I am so happy with this truck, it runs so good, plus its a blast to drive.
I also picked up a portable bluetooth speaker so now we have some tunes! I am really surprised how crisp the sound is from that little speaker. It does better than the stereo in my garage.

So not much to report on the blazer. Been driving it almost all the time. Mpg is decent 16 hwy 14-15 around town. It runs great as is but of course have some changes I want to do for the future.

I'm a pretty lucky guy my Wife and parents went in together and got me HP tuners for my birthday ! She originally wanted to get a matching PRP rear seat, but decided there were too many variables and didn't want to get the wrong one. She said she went through my whole build thread trying to find info. Even called PRP directly.

Hp tuners is a lot of fun to play with. So far I did some power enrichment and torque management mods, really woke up the motor. I did find that they forgot to turn off my egr with the original tune. They just turned off the MIL. After fixing that it seems to run a whole lot smoother.

As a cliffhanger there is some big and exciting stuff happening soon!
