PLOW MACHINE / sleeping quietly : 237 6 shifter levers !

i got a set of 1 1/8" spacers to go between the covers and head if I need them . . . thinking I will just my luck .

its a k30 1ton so its getting the hydroboost system . and I love them so much over vac brakes I even swapped in one on my 2 wheel burn project .

should have some more major update pics sat night .

and this is a members i know just cant recall who . early cover nv4500 = DEEP low 1st gear .

View attachment 232438

That one was mine in my '81 Jimmy with a 6.2. Diff's had 4.56 gears. That NV4500 is actually not the early version, it was a '95 model with the 5.61 first gear. It was long, and it was heavy. Total crawl ratio was 100.78:1. It was all 32 spline, billet bearing covers and PTO covers, and NWF adaptors and triple stick. Overdrive was 0.73:1

The bell and stuff was from advance Adaptors.

I traded it to Russell about 4 years ago I think?

I ask because the last project I did the valve covers and vac booster competed for room. I also opted for hydroboost (worked over by Vanco to work with hydro assist) on that project.

I always figured maybe it would be best to add a second p/s pump and use it just for the brake system only . then let the 1st pump do the steering / hydro assist .

so i looked and tested it again and said dont touch it for the lokar trans linkage . .

but i did finalize the pto on/off lever and link today . i used the lowest hole on the outboard ord lever and then measured my throw ratios and found it was going to be to far . so i pulled the pto lever and flipped it for a little more clearance with the hiem on it and redrilled the hole down from 3" centered to around 2 3/8" centered . i then reinstalled it and rechecked and was a lot closer . i then noticed it binding at 95% pto on/in position . so i clocked the pto arm 1 set of splines and shortened the linkage rod as needed. i reinstalled it all and its nice now .

the only thing i might do is shorten the lever in the cab were it comes threw the shifter boot since this one wont get used much but will see thats easy to do later if need be .

only one left is the inboard lever for the winch in/out but thats way off yet for needs .

pics later tonight when i get in the house for the night .

got me another BEEFY part today .

ruffstuff specialtys HD tie rod kit with steering stabilizer tab kit .

just got to measure up the width / cut the extra off / weld this BEAST of a unit together .

i picked this one for the hex adaptors on the ends . from a guy who has done lots of alignments it makes it better to have somthing to grip over straight round stock .

I've got there steering kit on my SAS'd F150 and it's definitely beefy. I've had it for about a year and it's survived rock contact just fine, should last you a lifetime!

did one on a buddys k30 all stock front end . his stocker was bent to hell.

i have there diff covers also . there BEEFY

so installing the tie rod kit today from ruffstuff and i found that 56" zerk to zerk fitting is real close to end up with for cutting off the extra tube length he sends you . and to verify i just happen to have the chunk still we cut from my buddys truck @manchildau65 when we did his . and also my old plow truck has 56" zerk to zerk fitting all gm style parts on it .

but why i am posting today is i found somthing i completely forgot i did . . . .

i was looking at the tube on the dana 60 and spoted the what i figured was the b.o.m # stamped in it . then i read it and relived it was the custom one i had stamped in it when i did the axles up back in 05/08/11 date on it .

it reads : 5.13-ARB-yukon-reid
............: reman - 5/8/11 bmh

haa haa what a blast to find this . that was also 1 week or so just before my neck surgery for my blown disk when i for a plate and bone fusion done to fix it .

just incase others are not up to speed on the axles I put under this truck here is the specs.

88 k30 dana 60 front with 40k miles. gutted 100% and installed new Yukon 5.13 gears and Timken install kit . these went on a ARB air locker . installed newer style super duty axle tube seals . put a u-bolt style 1410 yoke on the pinion shaft . then installed Yukon 4340 shafts 35spline inner/outer with nitro joints . next was reid knuckles & brass king pin bushings with stock gm srw hubs/rotors filled with new Timken guts . the spindles got longfield inner spindle bearing bushing kit . then it was all capped off with spicer locking hubs with inner gear broched to 35 spline .

the rear was late 80's g30 van 70" wms 14ff with lots of miles . needed full reman . so another set of 5.13 Yukon gears and Timken install kit was used on a ARB air locker . stock shafts went in with rebuilt srw hubs and Timken guts also . I did a ruffstuff disk brake kit swap on it . but now I am using these in a work truck I will be swapping back to 13"x3.5" drum brakes. also I used ruffstuff spring perches to set the axle under the truck . I will be using diy4x u-bolt top plates to tie in to the firestone air bag kit I am installing .

hope this gives you a little more to like on this build and up to date a bit better .

So you are using inner axle seals like these?

How well does that fit on the older dana 60 stuff? Axle shaft and end of axle housing?

time to take a seat .

2000ish chevy venture van 2nd row seats . side bolsters / good soft but firm padding / 2 arm rests per seat / recline / headrests . . . . all for 25 bucks each local craigslist few years ago .

had to pickup some harware today before work to bolt the center console unit in place yet .

i dont know . . . . will this seat frame do ?

1"x1" 1/8 wall square tube to oem sliders . then diy4x tabs for seat bolt down points . and my tabs for center console mount . there short leg channel iron neat stuff i found at a local shop he had in overstock . and nuts welded to bottom for easy bolt down of console .

still have to finish weld a few side joints and the bottom ones.

Looks good. I'm sure you checked but looks like the shifters will be pretty close when pulled back.
