Poorboy's 91 Build... B52's 56's FUSH, SYE

I've covered some of this earlier in the build, Thought I'd share a nice score. Was at a salvage yard in Denver and stumbled across a 91 chevy 1500 truck that had a shiny new red dist cap in it. Thought NICE! either a MSD cap and rotor or a Chinese one. Either way, will make great trail spares with copper contacts. Then as I climbed on up to remove them, I noticed.... SWEEET! a whole NEW (well like new) msd pro billet TBI/TPI distributor! for $20 I got a $300 distributor. Not that there's any real advantage other than it being billet. It sure will compliment all the other brand new MSD OFF ROAD stuff I have for the ol girl!

I got one of those with a Holley TBI and intake for a couple hundred last year. I've been kind of holding back from using it, just because of all the bad stories I've heard of MSD's stuff. Have you heard anything bad about their distributors?

The only one I've ever actually run was a 85551. Just One that connects to the 6 AL box for a carbureted engine. I noticed that the cap and rotor were constantly getting corrosion on the contacts. But then again, I hardly drove the vehicle it was on. Only other problem I have heard is the vacuum advance sticking on one that a buddy of mine has.

Nice score! I could never get an MSD box to work on my truck and after getting 2 bad boxes I said screw it. Also my Streetfire MSD distributor pulled the rivet holding the weights to the shaft causing sloppy timing. I've had bad luck with MSD but I think that's just me... :doah:

Ya know. I want to. I'm just sick of it being down. I had this fresh crate small block and I have a fresh bbc too. Figured they were here and bolt in easy motors. Some day. Some day.

Finally got my alimony paid off and a roof over my head. What a pita that was. Jimmy is tucked away in the garage. Motor uses oil and the front pump seal is out so it going to sit until i can find the right deal on an LS.
I'll assume your going to have eaglemark tune on that critter to get it right?

I have considered contacting him once I get everything worked out. I still need to get the stuff to data log too.

I'm looking for one like this as well. 2001 S-10 with 4L60E with Toyota axles (SFA swap) so I need a pass side drop to hook up. I texted you before and you were out of town. Tom 270-556-5340
How much shipped to 23185 and do you take Paypal?
If you had one with the eliminator kit would be a miracle, hahaha. If not I can buy a kit.
