$2000 is a Reasonable price... but...

Kurt's stuff is very nice, and well priced.
When I see something really practical and, in my opinion-well designed, It's nice to know he is tight with the CK5ers.

I read that Kurt's centers are 1/4" thick, designed to maximize approach angle and include the multiple spring mount brackets and new front body mounts.
At $380.00 I think they are a steal!

If Kurt does not have bolt on or weld on outers for his center (I assume if he doesn't he would be working on them?) I could estimate some 1/4" formed and steeply tapered wings could be done for significantly less than the prefabbed complete bumper unit you are considering.

It's always nice to "build your own stuff" when possible, when you punish your rig like we all do.

I won't "step on Kurt's toes" but if there is nothing available through him, then I'd be happy to give you some ideas, design options, and prices.
The only issue with me is, shipping is costly.

The last 2 packages I have sent to the US for CK5 Members were small and light weight, and cost over $30.00 each to ship.

The bumper design totally changes the look and "personality" of a rig!

You are being wise to take your time and weigh the available options.

Here something I threw together for the Dodge.
I don't have a bender, so I cut and welded the bends instead.
I used and reinforced the stock bumperbrackets, so it's still detachable.
It ain't pretty, but it's gets the job done.
(At least better than the flimsy stock bumper)

one of these with a couple of bent tubes welded to the top would be the same and way cheaper.

Oh crap I completely forgot about that thing. I do know the "wings" are thinner than the center. If he could make that with 1/4" or thicker throughout with some stout uprights, I would buy it.

I wonder if he could mix the A-bomb with the gauntlet, add the grill guard and make some sort of super bumper.

I actually have a full fabrication shop.
Shear that will cut 1/2" plate.
175 ton brake press.
CNC plasma.
100 ton punch press.
Yada, yada.
It does make these bumpers easier than they look.

Still lots of fun to build no matter how they are designed.:D

NO WONDER why you build such nice stuff. I've been working all my life to aquire such equipment. It's hard to do, and I'm no where near there yet. My shear is just a 16g hydro unit. 1/2 plate shears are PRICY!!!!

We have done the A bomb as a complete bumper. From blinker to blinker.

Could have sworn it was somebody here on CK5 but don't remember for sure.

We can also do the wings out of 1/4" material however, I would caution against this. The 7ga. wings we do are not that much thinner but when you start making the bumpers mega rigid out on the corners, yes, they will protect the corners better but at the expense of your frame. Something somewhere has got to give. Personally, i'd rather not have to swap out the frame.

That being said, we build them anyway you want them.

Drey, here on the boards has a custom one off on his blazer that turned out pretty sweet. Can't find the pictures of it though.

I know it's a major advantage.
The formed plate bumpers are my preference to build because of the wow factor.
That comes from serious equipment.....

I love my job!!!!!!
 
yeah, bending plate is waaaay beyond what the Dungeon is capable of... I will be doing a plate front for the Mutt at some point, but that'll be a corner welded/shaped gig...

I actually prefer tube on the trail rigs... but DD'er, towrig, etc, I dig a plate style.. don't like that buckstop one tho, it's a bit oversized looking imo.. it may not be, but it "looks" heavy... if that makes any sense... :haha:

I have heard of that before. Personally the current frame I have now is going to get tossed and replaced with a boxed and caged K30 frame once the Cummins is ready to be dropped in. Problem is, I need the bumper/winch before that lol
