taking doors and top off. all the weight loss makes a big difference in climbing ability.

Recurve the distributor: curve kit $23 with the adjustable vac advance. Even cheaper without.
The factory timing is wimpy. Much low end torque to be had from a quick spring change.

Homemade hand throttle - 11 bucks. Works great when wheelin' w/ a manual tranny.

K&N Filter

Fender trimming

3/4 ton axle swap - Free (bought donor truck for 500, took axles, tranny, case, drivelines, etc... and sold motor and grill out of truck for 500, so it was essensially free!)

hey, cheap thrills for a cheap guy alright....

ill drink just about anything BUT beer. Yuck. bad memmories.. the smell makes me sick now. its hard to drink much of anything, but if it is hard i just add a bit more soda and drink twice as much.

Best mods for under $100

*14 bolt ff and 3/4 ton 10 bolt for $75--from a 77 chevy and an 82 Chevy onto a 79 Blazer
*custom made front and rear steel bumpers out of Freightliner frame rail for $free--on a 79 Blazer, 75 Blazer, 83 Blazer
*3" body lift for $50--current 83 Blazer
*472 Caddy motor for $100--for current 83 Blazer
*400 sbc for $100--for 79 Blazer
*35" Gumbo's on 8 lug steel wheels for $75--for 82 Suburban
*brush guard with winch tray for $60--for 82 Suburban
*T350, T400 for $free--T350 for the 79 Blazer, T400 for 75 Blazer
*203 transfer case for trade of a blown 350 sbc--for 79 Blazer

Those are all the ones I can think of right now that I have done for real cheap. I have always been able to build a truck on a budget for less then $500 that performed reasonably well, except my yellow 75.

Well what should have been my best mod but I sold it all. Bought and drove home a 1981 chevy 1 ton bonus cab for 100 bucks. If ya dont know what was on it Ill tell ya.. LOL. 350/400/205/d60/14b ff. I was laughin all the way home.

My best mods for under $100.

Best one is Fender trimming = almost free. I already had a sawzall and several blades (only needed one) from a previous project.

Second best is the York. I got the compressor and the mounting bracket (lucky find that one) for $40 from pick-n-pull. And the tank from a big truck wrecking yard for $25. The hoses, connections, pressure switch and gauges cost me about another $40. OK OK, not quite under $100 but very close.

best mod that i can think off,

Off-road lights 100watt kc daylighter style- 10.95 at K-mart

Roll bar for the bed, black- 40$ from somones lawn

Parking brake cable(s)- 87$ carquest (raybestoes), best ****in thing i ever bought, especially because i got a sm465 and hated keeping my foot on the brake at train crossings.

Front grillie gard and lights- free from friend

new brakes, pads, shoues, calipers, wheel cylenders (about 50$) with cores.

sony X-Plode cd player- free /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif from neighbor who bought a better sterio.

Grant steering wheel, haven't had a chevy yet that i kept them large stock wheels, i like the smaller ones, anyway cost about $50. for wheel and intallation kit.

I think most of the truck mods have been covered, but I wanted to add:

First Aid Kit $10
Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certification approximately $40

Those were my most important add-ons to my truck this year!

I have a set Hella's ( the ones with the big yellow sticker that said for off road use only) in the garage that I am missing badly. Had them In my Supra. Headlights in the Burb stink. Think I need to convert from 4 headlight system to a 2 headlight so I can put my Hella's in it. Can't seem to Get the Bosch here in the states.

I bought my truck for a Dollar does that count as a cheap upgrade? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I think the Seats that I got out of the Junkyard for $70 was a great conversion.

Flowmasters, With shipping my 2-chamber 40series 3" came out just over 100.00 for 2 from the local exhaust shop

I almost forgot!
My CatCo cats from Summit, they cost ~50 clams each so it's a little over the $100 limit but now I get inspection stickers with ease(well, most of the time! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
