also you would be money ahead if you put this under the rear . https://ck5.com/forums/threads/14ff-4-88-detroit-shaved-crane-cover.341684/
My BIL had this place do his gears and lockers and they are fine. I've dealt with 4wp in the past and haven't had any issues with returns or parts. So the power lock is less expensive by a couple hundred bucks. And its not a 500 dollar discount. Thats the extreme warranty. If you break it for 3/36 they replace it. It is elective of course.
There is a craftsmanship warranty but they break em in and test drive em a little so it should be solid when you get it. Then you do the next 500 miles easy.
I know these main 4wp guys personally and they are not out to screw anyone. The austin store is the hub for the regional.
Most reputation posts are about online orders and insufficient stock.
item 12 is labor for Dana 60-80 $680, and should be for the 14bff which should cost less imo.
item 11 is Eaton Detroit locker for 14bff then says need 4 pin carrier. Do you have that carrier ?
For my own personal curiosity will that Eaton Detroit locker go in a g80 gov lock carrier?
Eaton did up the warranty to cover them through 38" tires when they changed the design several years ago. For mud/snow no problem but lifting a tire is where the strain comes since you have to drag the brakes. Of course a power lock also wears out quicker as you go up in tire size. https://www.eaton.com/Eaton/ProductsServices/Vehicle/Differentials/FAQforDifferentials/index.htmthey quoted you a true trac . . . not a power lock posi . good units but 35" is the basic max size tire for them . there more a car / street truck unit . not ment for big axles & tires
For what it's worth, we get about 1500 for a regear, front and rear. Our labor rate is 115 an hour.
Yep.....usually a full day....sometimes more sometimes less. Wouldnt it be nice to get 10 hrs for a 14ff??
I do all the dirty work and break down the axles and deliver them loose. Pair of tons runs me about $400 for gear install and setup.
