Project '08 'Vette orange.

got quite a bit done today... yesterday was a different story. I wish LMCTruck had a cab patch where someone dented it all in......:D

looks like Medusa or something. :haha:

mt's gonna be drivin the bondo blazer.... nice work cant wait to see it, i'll be back

Good to see you're using the stud gun instead of drilling holes and using a slide hammer. I hate those things. Those guns are the best thing invented for body work, IMO, next to sliced bread.

Nice work, this will be a fun project to watch. Be sure you inlcude details such as, piant to thinner/hardener ratios, what kind of guns your using, how you clean the old paint before priming, etc, etc. Stuff that guys who havnt done this before wouldnt know or think about.

no updates yet, just been sanding filler, been kinda busy around here lately, so i havent had as much time to do stuff as i did the first few days.

got the new fender openings from LMC today, the metal is thinner than i expected, but ill make it work. im going to be pretty much boxing it into the quarter panel backing anyway.

as far as pictures go, i left my camera at my dad's woman's house, when we went out there last weekend and shot prairie dogs, so this is the only picture i have for everyone. I know it brings teh non-tech.

No non-tech in the Garage! You know the rules! :D :haha:

sorry, i had to do it... anyways, to bring somewhat more tech to this post, i have made a cardboard cutout the exact shape of the new openings, and now i just have to figure out where im going to reverse section them and pie cut them. its gonna take a while, but once i get it done the way the boss man wants them on cardboard, i can go ahead and chop up the new openings! :wink1: :D :hack: :weld: :grind: :yikes: :screwy:

and as far as being a member of the sheetmetal gang, does this count as going for or against it? :p:

well, got the cab corner almost done! Just need to lay a superthin coat of filler over the weld area!

looks a ****ton better!

What took me the longest was getting that filler piece just perfect so i could have a bit of a gap and make it fit good. all in all, it was pretty easy. just gotta take your time. Maybe I'll inspire someone else to tackle sheetmetal in their rig.

Im in the same boat.. Lookin good... Im tuned in

well, heres the new openings from LMC... they are pretty dinged up. alot more than i was hoping for.

So, I traced the new (stock) fender openings onto a piece of thin cardboard, and cut it out, and held it up to the box just to see how much im gonna have to do.

now, begin hacking away at the cardboard. got the front to where I like it,

got the rear the way I like it.

ok, in this photo you can see exactly how much the opening is going to be lowered. I dont think this much will cause the tires to rub too much.

ok, made the template look a little better, so, now comes the comparison shots.

Just to clarify, the whole point of me doing this is to kind of hide the wheelwell mounting places, and box in the inner fender to outer fender.

So, what do you think bossman?

Looks great lets see how the metal workin looks... Good Luck
