Project Blue Truck: '83 C20 - Rolling Chassis

There are no building codes in my county and the ground never freezes here so no rat wall for me. The county won't even know I've built anything until they come around to assess my tax value. I'll just have a floating slab; I am going to run conduit under the slab so I won't pour until I've got that part done.

I'm jealous wish I had a tractor and a few more acres and I could claim agricultural and not need any permits.an I could deduct it on my taxes

Hahaha. There's still some wild frontier left in west GA and Middle East GA believe it or not. But it's getting pretty scarce that's for sure.

I finally managed to make some more progress on the old 83. I've been piddling with it after work for the past couple of weeks and finally got it on all fours today.

Sweet. I was wondering if you were ever going to start back. Keep us posted here please.

Keep at it. I want to see this done.

Thanks guys! I'm still waiting on some dirt work before I can get started on my shop, but I'm really looking forward to having a shop that's fully enclosed. There were probably 6 months that I never even went over to my shop and when I finally started back working over there, all my **** was rusted and covered with leaves.

That probably happened in like one week. I need me a shop too. I get tired of working on stuff out in the elements but oh well.

Still no progress on my shop. The ground has been, and continues to be, too saturated for any kind of dirt work to commence. I do have a nice crop of ferns growing in my clearing though.

Forward progress has continued though, and thanks to Interco's blemish page, I finally ordered a set of 44x18 Boggers.

Sweet. I'm surprised they actually had 4 of the same kind/size of tires on there. I usually just see two or maybe three at the time.

If it rains around here this year like it did last year, you're going to have to wait until about June to start building. I don't think it will be nearly that bad though.

Those are probably my favorite tire :thumb:

I'm not sure how many years I have wanted a set of them...:haha:

picked up some of those sticky boggers?

I don't think that these are sticky, just a tad narrower than the run of the mill. If they are sticky there won't be much around here for them to stick to. :D

They actually listed 28 of these. And we got over 5" about a week ago. I had to use 4 wheel drive to back out of my yard and the ruts I left still have standing water in them.

My dad's an over night (not the truck line) trucker and he said it was almost like a hurricane in FL where he was going. He had to pull over with a bunch of other big rigs and wait it out. I think he said they got like 2" in 2 hours or something crazy like that.

Hopefully now that the trees are almost fully leafed out, they will start soaking up some of that water. I see you have plenty of tree around your place. Mostly pine though.

What kind of shop are you going to build? Steel siding from a kit?

It'll be a pole barn with metal siding. 32' x 40' x 10' with a lean to down the long side if it doesn't get too expensive.

This is why I can't have nice things.

I was going to get my H1's sandblasted and painted today, but the machine shop can't sandblast in the rain.

Are you going to bring in a bunch of dirt/sand or excavate the dirt to build your shop on a hill?
