Project Blue Truck: '83 C20 - Rolling Chassis

Are you going to bring in a bunch of dirt/sand or excavate the dirt to build your shop on a hill?

I'm on a slight hill, with maybe a foot of elevation change across the proposed site. I'm going to have dirt pushed up from the bottom of the hill to create a raised area to pour the pad on.

Thats quite a bit of water.

Yep. Maybe I should start a boat project just in case.:haha:

My dad said he got 3.25" so far today in Berrien county, so that water ain't going no where no time soon my friend.

After picking up and priming the wheels on Tuesday, I assembled one today to check clearances with the lower link while turned to the steering stop. I am happy to report approximately 1/4" of clearance between the link and large lugs of the tire. I was slightly worried I would have to turn out the steering stops since I didn't have the tires when I built the suspension, but I managed to get it pretty damn close with out them.:pimp:

The high backspacing on the H1's cancels out the large offset between the king pins and the wheel mounting surface on the hubs, so the tires look like they will tuck nicely under the fenders. I definitely wanted to avoid over half the tire hanging out like you see on some trucks.

I put a ball valve and air fitting on the CTS union and just hooked my air hose straight into the tire to seat the bead.:haha:

I also had a D6D sitting in my yard when I got home, so dirt work for the shop should be commencing soon.:woot:

Awesome dude!!!

The large engine doesn't help with perspective either.

Wow lots of travel there. You need to go ahead and get that shop built before it hits 100 degrees so you can get the body put back on and impress everyone on this forum with some south GA engineering. :thumb:

I bought a 4L80e that came with a few extra parts... The truck is a 2wd 2001 Silverado 2500 and everything else is for sale. The truck runs and drives fine with just cosmetic damage on the driver's side from side swiping a semi truck.

Hmmm.... and you have all the wiring and the gas tank too I suppose?

I have the wiring, but I didn't pull the gas tank before I scrapped the frame.

I pulled probably 90% of the interior out so if anyone needs anything let me know. I still have the 6.0 as well.

The truck did not die in vain though.:haha:

Anybody need a 2WD SM465?

I just ended up buying a carbureted 350 this week. Besides a swap like that would be a whole lot more work than I want to do. Someone will want it though for sure.
