Project Chump (88 K5) - ORD front 4 link install

Yes I put a 73-75 top on it. I still have to finish filling the bodywork, but it's close

When moving your steering box forward, did you have any clearance issues with the crossmember that's up there? Any better pics of it?

No, I don't remember having issues with the crossmember. I didn't go that far forward. Just 2 or so inches

New Pics

My shop is finally getting to the point where I can start working on the projects that are in it. Last night I spent most of the time doing drywall mud work in the 12x13 office that I have built inside the warehouse.

After working on the office, I put the Blazers battery on the charger, cleaned it out a bit and put the battery on a charger. I hope to charge the coilovers in the next week or two and start driving it again.

Here are a few requested pics of how I fab's the coilover hoops.

I'd appreciate any full 'vert pics you feel like posting. :D did you get the door parts from a donor or new?

The more I see clean k5's with full vert swaps the more I want to do the full vert swap vs just chopping the roof and capping

Yep, and drive the crap out of it! (instead of letting it sit between wheeling trips)

The first two pics are self explanatory. The last one doesn't show the whole thing. You'll notice that the hoop (a) comes down and is welded to a bar that runs parallel with the ground (b). I put a piece of flat steel behind the frame to box that area that "b" goes through. I then drilled a hole through both the front (factory) and rear (boxed) frame. I "b" through the holes and welded them on both sides. This way, "b" isn't just welded to the outside of the frame... it has a little more support.

I'm probably going to piss a lot of people off with my next statement. Since this is my deceased brother old "project/toy" truck, I will NOT be beating the hell out of it against rocks. I plan on driving this to/on the beach, easy wheeling trips, camping, etc. The only reason that I'm putting in a built LS motor, front 4 link, full vert, is because i'm an idiot that can't leave things alone. I have to play with anything I own.

This truck will be full on Poser!

missed a question:

The red doors currently on the truck are factory 1988 doors that I cut up. I do have an original 1975 set that are in great shape that will be going on once the fabrication stops and the bodywork/paint/assembly fun begins.

Can't say I would be able to bring myself to do that to a passed loved one's rig either. More power to you for having the will power to want to keep it nice:waytogo:

Hey man, ain't nothin wrong with building a nice truck and keeping it nice. More power to you! :thumb:
