I'm located just north of Vancouver, Wa. I checked out your Jimmy that was on Craigslist and watched that build, it turned out great and sold fast. Reminded me of my old Jimmy. I saved a couple pics of it on my ipad for motivation. What are your next plans with the Blazer?

Ok on with the progress. I got the rear shackle flip kit installed this weekend! I learned a few new words along with that install, but it's in and done. Hung my new springs also. I have a couple questions for you guys, Right now I have most of the suspension bolts loose thought I would wait to get the rollers on and the extra weight of the truck before I torque everything is this the right way to do it? Also I have read about turning down the DRW hubs to SRW hub a have a friend who has turned a bunch down and the look great but I'm a little hesitant to run on the street with those any thoughts? Next plan is to get the Dana 60 kingpins freshened up and some paint on the front end. Oh one more question if you guys look at the ORD frame brace I installed the instructions said in capitol letters to not weld all the way around brace so I didn't, but I have some friends say to weld it up to seal off moisture and rust any ideas on that?

Ha! Ok yes it was my 68 Camaro I sold it recently never drove it much but had it for 10 years it had a 461 BBC, Tremec 5speed it was fun.

If I had more self control, I would have built a camaro before I did the jimmy. But alas I value my Driver's License, so I did the jimmy. Maybe after I am 50 or so I will behave behind the wheel of a muscle car, but I doubt it!!!

Thanks, I would be lying if told you I didn't miss sitting in the garage. I will get another after the Blazer is done, possibly a 2nd Gen this time. Oh wait nevermind I have a 3 year old and one that just turned 5 months! RETRACT!

Listen to ORD on this one. Steven explained why they suggest that, and I forgot exactly why but remember that it was a good reason.
I'd just paint it really well in those gaps. Road grime/oil will fill in any openings eventually. You can pre-coat the area by placing it near any fully sealed and running np205 transfer case for a few minutes. That should provide plenty of protection from rust.

yeah, what he said, follow the directions and stitch weld it.. full welds tend to create stress risers with em...
if your concerned about corrosion, properly prime/paint the sandwiched areas, then grind the weld areas.. install... then put a bead of seam sealer in the joints.. paint...
i do it on mine in my build... it's back on the early pages of the novel...

Ok great thanks for your input. I did prep the area well before I put it on it should be fine.
Did you guys see the other question about machining the DRW hubs to make SRW hubs? Seems as though there are mixed feeling about using those on the street. Leaning towards buying new SRW hubs because of the Cummins. Any experience with this issue or is this a no brainer Thanks for help.
