a cop friend of mine said anyone can have the cop car sirens on their vehicle so long as they never ever use them on non private land and if you use it on public roads its a felony

So, its been slow going over the holidays, but now its time to start work again, all I really got accomplished was painting it flat black , got the headers in and added some decals

that rear shackle angle looks killer, are you going to reposition the shackle flip for a better angle? it looks great though, keep up the good work

Oh yeah that.... lol, Im moving out of my place in march and theres nothing I need to do in the box, so right now its full of parts, tools, winches, etc. its a heavy load. Once I put the rear end on A diet, it should be better. my mounts are "backwards" as far back as I can put them on the frame, so the next step is to move the front hangars, which I dont want to do at this point of time.

SO I opened a can of worms....... I started on my flywheel/clutch installation when I notice that there was a lot of old oil on the back of the engine. so I decided to replace the rear main seal...... Honestly, I have not done one before so I started by removing the seal retainer, cleaned everything up well and when I went to install it, it was a major PITA. I can not get the damn retainer back on.... so now off comes the oil pan... grrrrr

So I got all that finished and I hit my second roadblock. I need to know the size of bolts needed to attach the clutch pressure plate to the flywheel. On the flywheel there are both 3/8'' and 5/16'' threaded bolt holes, and on the actual clutch pressure plate assembly there are holes just over 3/8'', so you would assume to use the 3/8'' bolts. In my instructions it says not to use a bolt with a head larger than 1/2'' (which would be a 5/16'' bolt) and then the gm dealership says to use a 5/16'' x 5/8'' bolt which is nowhere near long enough because the threads on the 5/16 holes on the flywheel dont start until the middle of the hole. so im just lost. heres some pics for clarification what should I use?

the gm dealership told me to use 3/8 bolts :dunno:. i think those smaller holes are possibly for a different type clutch on a different higher hp car or truck since there are more of them. i bet if you go back to the auto store you got the flywheel at you could find out what other vehicles its made for.

Small update:
I got the clutch, tranny, etc in the truck now, and have been working on little things such as washer pump, wipers, rad hoses and whatnot. I think that my slave cylinder is seized becasue I cant seem to push it together to bolt it onto the bellhousing, unless im doing something wrong. other than that Ill be finishing up the fuel cell installation and lots more odds and ends this week. oh and it may be a silly question but do you guys with a hydro clutch use DOT 3 brake fluid?

ok so thats all done and out of the way, tranny and tcase are in and the hydro clutch is all together. I used a Vaccum bleeder to bleed it (I was all by myself) and it worked pretty damn good. at first I could not get it to bleed but I then put a muffler on my clutch pedal, sucked out with the bleeder and presto! a good working clutch! its pretty tight too.

other than that I built a fuel cell mount, hosed and wired it in, finished wiring the odds and ends of my truck and still all the little jobs that take up time.
