Project MULE - Expedition build on a 1991 1500 4x4 Suburban

Thanx for the link. I'll forward that to my friend in germany and see if he can be the go between for me on the vents.

On the bumper...i have no clue. I have money...just no time working on a drilling rig. The Jimmy spent close to a year with a dear friend and board member getting built for back up work truck duty. I tried DYI4X4 and he wanted to at first and then decided against doin it. I have emailed a place in colorado springs...they said yes...and we have a fullsize jimmy they can use as mock up...and then they quit answering emails...just my luck i suppose.

If your friend in Germany buys it himself he will pay the Euro VAT fees which is like a tax. and can be upwards of 13% plus shipping to you. Since its being shipped directly to me I am not paying VAT. Just keep that in mind.

It's 19% here in Deutschland...:eek1:

Oh man and with the US dollar being low against the Euro that will hurt a lot!

Yes it does! US service members can get a VAT form that nullifies the tax, but most stuff is still pretty pricey on the economy. Gas off base is ~$8/gallon...

Looking good!

When you said those vents were expensive, I expected $500+. $100 for a product like that, from overseas, isn't too bad.

well i think your hood looks like a million bucks so you made out ok in my book

Back in the day when i was stationed in west germany...
It was a 2.5 to 1 exchange rate with the mark. Man did that make
for many drunken nights.....

your rig is going to be simply amazing :waytogo:

The guy from Expedition Portal has an amazing rig too...love his "kitchen" :waytogo:

Got some spy shots before she goes in for paint

If I am lucky I may have the truck back this weekend. I know its taking a while but its a friend that works at a body shop thats doing all the labor. So which is it "Right, fast or cheap" Pick two! I chose Right(ish) and cheap.

Updated plan over the next month.

Get truck back
Re-Install rain gutters
Install new glass track and weatherstripping
Install new door strikers
Paint roof with Elastomeric roof coating
Paint bedliner on lower section of body.
Build final front winch bumper.
Install roof rack
Instal awning
Find mount point for Hi-Lift.
Mount rear winch bumper

Top Bottom
