Project MULE - Expedition build on a 1991 1500 4x4 Suburban

Also consider the DynamicEFI set-up, the EBL P4 will run TPI speed density. I run it with my TBI and it absolutely rocks. No chip burning required, tuning on the fly. Direct monitoring of system. Add up all it takes to do your own scanning and, burning and tuning and your probably pretty close to a ready to run EBL system.

That's interesting. may research into that one. one of the key ideas was to not have to bother with all the tuning or burning myself. I was to data log the new engine then have Eaglemark burn me a new prom. I really dont want to make this a hobby.

I know on my TBI EBL system it even has a self learn mode. Basically it data logs while you drive and automatically builds a fuel table. You then "burn" it into memory and drive on. Do it a couple times to really fine tune it. Plus the ability to control dual cooling fans, 700R4 lock-up, lean cruise, add or delete any emissions errors or functions, I eventually will add a fuel pressure sensor to mine.

ok you have my full undivided attention:thinking:

The dual fan control is in the 7730 ecm but I dont know if its adjustable or whatnot. My 700r4 is not a 4l60E its stil good old fashion. I know I can install a switch to activate it lock up but I didnt think the non E 700s were connected to the ECM.

I have several options as far as temp, speed cut off, a/c, ect for the fan functions. Mine is the same with the trans, yes you could do a basic switch in the trans, but you could also have the EBL control the lock-up with several variables.

I still love the TPI system, but the TBI is SO MUCH simpler. Your engine build with the vortec heads, a vortec intake and a simple TBI adaptor, running the EBL Flash computer would put a smile on your face without the extra complication of the TPI. Plus it would really compliment what you've already done to the TBI so far.

P.S. still want those console pics. :-)

True the TBI is a bit simpler and its also already installed:whistle: But I want those nasty torques numbers and the TPI will help give them. so I'll deal with a bit more hassle.:D

I also have a stand alone wired and programmed 8.1L/4L80E combo sitting on the shop floor  :haha:

Such bad influences lol :waytogo:

Rob, I always know when you are wheelin and dealin and getting stuff done...I see your ads on CL lol. I too, wanna see this console!

it's hot outside, all the project trucks of the southwest sit idle over the summer. lol!

Muddy. I don't think I'll ever get my sessions switched around from living in the Midwest. I still work on stuff in the summer at 115. I need to get the center console dine before our trip to Minnesota this October.

Maybe it's the fact that I work outside all day. On my own time I try to stay cool. Where in MN are you going?

We are taking all non highway roads up to mn. Seeing the country the old way. Going north to Yellowstone hang a right. Hit devils tower. Mt Rushmore. Badlands and anything else on the way. Going up the north shore to grand marais And coming back to grand rapids to visit friends. Once done we just beeline it back on the interstate.

12 days up 2days back

Nice! Document the hell out of it and see if outdoorX4 will publish it!

700R4 Build

Didn't you say you were going to be building your own 700R4?
If so whats your mailing address. I took 12 credit hours in automatics at glendale community college many moons ago and i have some tools i bought that i have never used that would come in handy for that venture....

Grand Rapids, MN, or Grand Rapids, MI? Either way you're coming somewhat into our area...

Grand Marais is a neat area. We came through that area last year doing the Lake Superior circle tour (and the year before that we went as far as Two Harbors). The whole North shore is pretty. Sounds like you will have a grand time.
