Are you planning on boxing the frame? I didn't and now I really wish I would have.

the k5 frame is seriously heavy..but I would also say box the frame, I spent quite a bit of time boxing my frame on my 71 but I feel the time is worth it if you dont plan to tube the frame..

It's boxed until right behind where the seats are in the picture. The rest is getting cut off anyways. ;)

Gotta go see the g/f this weekend, weekend after that I help my sister move in and drain a keg, hopefully the weekend after that I'll pick up the square stuff for the rockers. Found HREW locally for 1.70/ft so I might pick up 100 ft and bust ass to get as much as I can done. Three weeks before any updates that are worth reading. I think I'm gonna rock a truck avenger instead of shelling out big bucks for injection right now though. I drove a friend's YJ on 40's for a while my last trip up to Gilbert and was REALLY impressed with it. Mopar 360 with a 670 truck avenger on top.

propane is your friend........:D

I live north of Kentucky and snow wheeling is a blast, I don't wanna be caught in a blizzard with a can of ether and frozen toes. :haha:

Seriously though, I've seen people try and start propane motors in the cold and it's not fun at all. By the time you get a dual fuel setup it's as much if not more than a fully Holley 950 Commander EFI system.

I have an edelbrock q-jet that I am really impressed with, might be another option too.

I've seen q-jets work well too. I think I'm gonna try a holley the first time around. I drove that YJ through one of the hardest trails in Gilbert and it didn't flinch.

Another trick I learned is to run an electric fuel pump. If your junk starts to stall, turn the fuel pump off and it'll burn off a little fuel. Turn it back on a minute or so later and all is well. ;)

dude...

there aint no hard trails in Gilbert az...

your crazy, although this one time at walmart, I had to go around a broke down car, I went wayyyyyyyy up on the curb, that crap had to have been a 2 or maybe a 3 on the trail rating, I dunno...you just had to be there I guess..

j/k

I'm drunk so I was about to post a rant and then my thought train wandered off to all the cool trails in Arizona, and then to the fact that boggers suck on rocks, so in closing....LOL and I hope I get to wheel with the AZ crew one day. :D

I have an electric pump on mine and its awesome. Turn it on and prime up system for a couple seconds and it fires right up then turn off and let engine run for a few. Turn off to clean up engine if it starts getting rich.

Mikey...first off no matter what you do to it its still gonna be a minnesota rig:wink1:

secondly Cheers, i love the illusion that your not drinkin alone when your on CK5 :haha:

That's exactly how the owner of that YJ was telling me how to run it. Like I said, after seeing a carb run that well I pretty much refuse to spend $1500 on EFI + whatever it costs to rig up an electronic advance dizzy for my caddy motor.

Besides, Bill knows that holley inside and out and I'm sure my shakedown weekend will be at Gilbert so if I have problems I'll just tell him to fix it. :haha: ;)

My friend got me hooked on Tekillya and wow does that get me messed up. This sentence took me the better part of 5 minutes to type.

I was going to pack it up and go to bed, but now that I know that you're drinking, I may stay for a while.

BTW, don't mention tequila if you are ever around my wife.

Back on topic:

What are you gonna do for exhaust?

it's gonna be done by a local shop. I can't weld as well as the local guy can. A true dual is gonna be TRICKY to fit and there's no way there can be an H-pipe in there. So...I think what's gonna happen is that I'm gonna run two pipes until the tranny/t-case adapter and either run the passenger pipe over the tranny or tuck it in between the tranny pan and the adapter bushing and run a single pipe the rest of the way.

I think I'm gonna run a cat just because it's cheap and easy and the greenies ride our asses in MN the way it is. Either way, there'll be the IMCO knockoff's of the Flowmaster 40's for mufflers. I had 'em on my '93 TBI 350 and they sounded fantastic and the perfect volume.

Anyway, the floor is gonna get REAL warm, header wrap and closed toed shoes are gonna be mandatory.
