Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

Yeah I like the looks of the Fords...but with the Cummins you got planed it`s going to be TITS!! :thumb:

I wouldn`t kick one out of my garage if it had a 6 leaker that had the fixes done to it.

well yes and no. IMO. there ARE known engineered deficiencies in the 6.0L diesel. Thats not disputed. The will fail if left stock, or even faster if left stock and hotrodded. theres a large aftermarket support for them now. that will correct every deficiency. stud the heads, delete the egr, relocate the engine oil cooler, and they will work really good after. this heui system is very fickle to engine oil too. correct weight and always clean and fresh. Theres a guy here in fort Mac that put down 1150 HP to the wheels in his 6.0L race truck as of last season.

So no, they're not bad if you know what your doing with them. But I'm still building a big bad cummins for my own. I like the truck part, of ford trucks, over the other manufactures. As far as chassis, and interior are concerned. even transmissions. the 4r100 and 5r110 are STOUT autos in stock form. the ZF6 for the stick option. Stout gearbox. they do really good that way. just really dropped the ball in the engine compartment IMO.

Don't forget about the ecu.
That needs to be dealt with on 90% of the trucks. The circuit board needs to be re soldered.

I didn't forget about anything. Its not the ecu. Its the transformers in the power supply half of the FICM.

I didn't intend to list all the things that need to be dealt with, I touched a couple major items. that was not a "How to bullet proof your 6.0L post"

I was answering Deans question.

I pretty much agree with that. I have liked the Fords that I have been around (Super Duty line, not the pre 98's). I think the front end in the '05 and up is better than the Dodges. Suspension and steering wise.

I've been around a half dozen 6.0's closely. I've seen an '04, with a chip, have zero go wrong with it to this day. I've seen one have continual turbo problems, another that has gone through injectors, and another that has had nothing but small problems one after another, nothing major though. I've also seen a stock 4R100 tranny that was still alive and well at 343,000 miles in a 95'.

I still think the Dodges are more attractive outside, and I feel more comfortable inside them too. Never been a fan of the Ford dashes, or seats.

Anyway you could post pics so the poor people here can still see your build? I love this truck but I cant see it now :(

This is how it still today. I'm peeling that chrome off the rockers when I'm on days off next. Can't handle it anymore like that. I suppose you should be able to see it now. It does look like a Micro Machines rig, whoever said that was bang on. I love it.

And I promise if it hasn't snowed before I get home from the mine next, I'll get a video of smoke show off the rear 4 37s. I love turbo diesel horsepower.

That thing is bad azz  I can't remember, but, it did start out as a SRW, right ?

Can't wait to see the 6.7 in it :waytogo:

I want to see double 11's painted on the road! :thumb:

She'll do it. I've done it. Just didn't get to record it....... You know..... While driving it and all. :waytogo:

Headstuds will be done by the time I get home, then I'm really gonna rip on it. See what happens. :thumb:

Meeee tooooo :waytogo:

Ya it was a SRW F350 when I bought it. Till I got the Cab & Chassis F450 under it, those are all proper DRW.

Ya, I remember the 450 giant :D axle swap, just couldn't remember if it was a dual to start.

Again, looks awesome :thumb:

Ya in order to be street legal I need them. Have to be full width, and hang equal to or lower than center line of rear axle.

And believe me the RCMP around here are on TOP of that kind of ****.

That's about stupid. I'll bet their patrol cars don't have mud flaps on them.

Several states in the U.S. have mud flap laws too. I think the purpose of those laws is just to tell guys with 4WDs that "law enforcement is the boss." If they can pull you over for something obvious like no mud flaps, their line of reasoning is that they can try to spot a bunch of other unsafe stuff and give you some tickets and make some money.
