Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

alrightly then. this is the truck as I took the keys last week. 2006 loaded Lariat fx4. its a nice damn truck outside of the engine.

the rims and super60 and D110 will look like this when singled on a pickup body. its a sterling but the same diffs. inset outset to deal with the dually, but I don't care I like it. not sure if I want black or silver rims. and 37s to offset the 4.30 ratio. but a damn stout setup.

Keep it coming... it's not our fault chevy forgot how to build a truck past '91 so bring on the Ford pics.
Amen.

Looks like a nice truck man!

Doing anything with the Chevy body now?

its already sold and gone. it wasn't even that nice inside either. for starters blue :zombie4: and cloth. body was in good shape but interior was a fail. and that was just another tick on the never ending list. sure I could of bought a leather interior swapped it all out...... but I don'[t have time for bull **** like that anymore.

Fair enough. Sometimes it's easier to change directions or just start over to get what you want.

for refresher.

it wasn't totally random that I bought this particular truck. the 2005+ coil front suspension is common to the f350 and f450 so the super60 is a bolt in swap. the 1/2 axle tubes, HUGE brakes, 1550 joints (also decreases the turning radius a ton) because of larger operating angle of the 1550 joint. our service trucks turn way tighter than any 1ton. the larger ring and pinion. all good things. the D110 bolt in.....after moveing the spring pads a couple inches. looks like the D110 rotors are 16" ya. big brakes. 12valve bolt in with the destroked motormounts I already have. just need a new tranny adapter. not a big deal. using the 5r110 ford auto. because its a very good auto. another thing that ford did good on. proven to hold 500-600 hp in stock form. theres a couple places make a nice little stand alone controller for it to work with the mechanical 12v.

the engine still. its got a 66mm silver bullet now. oring head, arp 625 studs. metric ****pile of fuel.

front 4.30:1 manual hubs factory crossover, I must admit the control arms are beef. on the 350 and 450. seriously go compare that to a 3rd gen dodge front suspension. its kind of laughable. and you can't even compare the GMs in the same league. its too bad but the truth hurts 'eh/

rear 4.30's factory Detroit truetrac, weight 350 lbs, funny thing about the rear carrier, the ring gear is integral with the carrier for the truetrac. its 1 piece for strength.

Ya sort of. I mean its time to kick up the game. I mean, I'm early 30s, have 2 young daughters, make good money, but I've always driven beaters. even my '98 24v dodge although a 650rwhp demon, it was still a base model, manual windows and locks.... :doah:

I'm too cheap to buy new. and this is as close as its gonna get, and I still have to make it my own. because nothings ever good enough from the factory. :thumb:

decided on Nitto Trail grappler MT 37/12.5r20 for tires.

ok so chevy love. them in a 20" rim but shorter than 37s. they're reported to be quieter on road than regular MTs and have very good all round characteristics.

A guy i work with up here has the 35" trail grapplers on on 20's on his Ford 1ton, hes got a spartan 310 tune, intake, exhaust, couple other things. Estimated 600hp/900lb ft (says spartan). the only thing he has complained about the tires are that when he gets on the throttle is that the sidewalls feel mushy, and the truck tends to jump a bit. Kinda hard to explain. but other than that, he is getting good even wear for a guy with a heavy foot, and they are actually really quiet on the highway. he seems really happy so far with them!

good luck finding any truck in that case

Yeah, no kidding. The only good trucks built, are now old enough that even they are falling apart.

Newer 'trucks' may have powerful engines and rigid frames, but beyond that, they are garbage. I'm not biased against one or the other, my statement applies to all of em.

yea you cant say that chevy falls apart when dodge, ford and even yes toyota or nissan do the same thing. they know we are going to buy them so they make them cheaper nowadays.

Wow, wow, wow I didn't mean to start anything I was just trying to get a little more out of the guy who uses his 7th post on a forum to hop to the end of a guy's thread and tell him he's doing it all wrong. Hence the popcorn smiley at the end of my post.
That being said I agree no truck is perfect, although I think we can all agree some are better than others.
