Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

Lol. It is a mild madness.

I could fit 40-42" tires. Tough to find good options in a 24" rim though.

The cabover, theres no built thread. I have some parts for it. Hanging about the garage. But it's going to hang out until I'm done messing with my truck and the Ppump 6.7 Cummins is in it. And I've done a protouring restoration on my z-28.

73 rs/z-28

No real build, its a survivor. My pops had it for almost 30 years, I've had it for 10 or a little more. Only parts not original are rims and tires, and I swapped a nasty 454 in when the original 350 got tired after the 2nd O/H.

Well I guess there's some pics of it and the engine job in the other rides section.

Ill check it out. I wanted to make mine a pro touring car too but once I added up what parts would cost me. I quickly realized I couldnt afford that kind of project. Maybe one day If I ever pass a pipe cert...

Luke I dig the wheels, but I'm in the bigger tire club myself...I bet it handles dam well though.

Just some proof that it actually did.happen...... ;)

And yes..... They are big rims, and they look even bigger on the truck. It's gonna take me a bit to get used too as well. It sounded like a good idea at the time :D

You know I don't really go for the big rim thing ,but that looks pretty good to me!

When I see the whole thing I think the front looks lower than it did in the pic you posted a while back. Front looks pretty good to me and the rear axle looks absolutely awesome!! Kinda like one of those new Hot Wheels with the screwy large lo-pro slicks.:woot:

.......for the record I am not usually a big blingin rim guy.

Spent most of December off work, at home with the family and playing around. and for the record....... the 6.0 leaker that currently lives in it. can blow all four rear 37s off on dry cold pavement. I forgot how much fun it is to make a truck that big, go sideways. daughters love it, Mama..... not so much.....

That's way cool! :thumb:

well yes and no. IMO. there ARE known engineered deficiencies in the 6.0L diesel. Thats not disputed. The will fail if left stock, or even faster if left stock and hotrodded. theres a large aftermarket support for them now. that will correct every deficiency. stud the heads, delete the egr, relocate the engine oil cooler, and they will work really good after. this heui system is very fickle to engine oil too. correct weight and always clean and fresh. Theres a guy here in fort Mac that put down 1150 HP to the wheels in his 6.0L race truck as of last season.

So no, they're not bad if you know what your doing with them. But I'm still building a big bad cummins for my own. I like the truck part, of ford trucks, over the other manufactures. As far as chassis, and interior are concerned. even transmissions. the 4r100 and 5r110 are STOUT autos in stock form. the ZF6 for the stick option. Stout gearbox. they do really good that way. just really dropped the ball in the engine compartment IMO.
