The more I work on my bumper the more it is becoming a direct copy of yours Pwagon. I am struggling to improve on what you have done. I know how I'll make it mine! I won't use a yeti bottle opener!
* * ***** Front Disk Brake Upgrade to Slotted and Cross-drilled Rotors*****
For as long as I've owned my K5, I've never touched the front brakes other than to throw on a new set of brake pads and 30 year old caliper re-builds... until now. I finally convinced myself upgrade my front brakes and do it with new high-end parts.
I started with buying Summit Racings wheel nut remover with made taking the hub off a whole lot easier. It was like $30 for the socket tool which was expensive but worth every penny in my opinion.
I then took the whole wheel hub assembly off the axle shaft. I then took an old lug nut and screwed it down on each wheel stud, so I could drive it out with a 5 lb. mini-sledge. I then swapped out my new rotor and drove back-in the wheel studs.
I then put everything back together in reverse order, but I installed the Wilwood dual piston all-aluminum calipers. Later in the day I installed Wilwood braided stainless steel brake lines (not pictured).
I think it turned out awesome.com if I do say so myself.
How do they work? Don't see many of these trucks with wilwoods.
I personally was surprised by how much better the brakes felt just switching from rubber hoses to stainless, which won't expand under pressure. I'd expect the whole kit would be quite an improvement.
It's funny you ask. It's night and day difference from how bad it was to how awesome it is now. Stomp on the brakes, and this dude will shut-the-hell down...
