So yes the fan was not pulling enough air.

I’ve only had bad luck with electric fans. To many things to go wrong.

Alternator stops working so do the fans.

Bad sensor or relays fan stops working.

Connection corrodes fan stops working.

not making ground fans stop working.

Mechanical fan won’t stop working unless the water pump seized and you will know instantly preferably before you get over heated and blow a head gasket :D

Windstars cool my BBC fine all day, in Moab at 110 degrees, when I had fenders.

If your vehicle is getting hot sitting it is the fans, if it is getting hot while moving at 40 mph or so it is the radiator.
Good info Keith! Never thought of it that way.

So far I’m in to it (price of truck included) around $6500

I feel really good about that number. Don’t tell my wife:thumb:

Now how am I going to convince her I need 3k worth of new rubber for the wheels :wink1:

I suggest holding off on the new tires, that way you can finish those off with a burn-out!
:saweet:

Yep. I just don’t trust them at all. I believe these are Ford Taurus fans? I think that was a mod from this forum way back in the day. they can’t cool this big of a radiator and engine. They were meant for v6’s
I and many others run the Twin Windstar fans, they keep my warmed over 461 plenty cool, with the aluminum Northern radiator.

Dang that site has way better prices than what I was looking at!

Thinking cooper discovery, nitto grapplers or Mickey Thompson’s.
Probably depends on what tread you want too

I am running the 37/12.5/17R Nitto Trail Grapplers. Been real happy with them

Mine has an aluminum northern radiator as well.

Can you tell what fans these are? They may not be windstars. I just figured they were since that’s a common mod. Just know that when electric fans shit the bed you can over heat quickly. Too quickly.

I am also not a huge fan on these weld wheels. They look tacky to me. I’d like something closer to the 4x Rally’s or maybe a different kind of weld wheels. These wheels scream “tribal tattoo” for some reason.

OEM has been running them for what 30+ years now, I'd say if installed correctly they are pretty reliable.

If strong enough to pull air I’m sure they work great. For some reason these ones do not pull enough. Tired fan motors? They are brushless I thought though. These were wired to a temperature sensor to a relay that took the temp of the cooled water running into the engine and they still failed. So it is what it is. They kicked on at thermostat opening but I even wired them to run continuously and still failed to cool the engine. I won’t be running electric fans ever. That’s great if it works for you. Just not a “fan” lol
