Project Snow Bear K20!

bright colors scream "LOOK AT ME".... I want to sneak by unnoticed and make folks hunt for the cool stuff on my truck.

So you might want to rethink your shackle angle. It looks like with no weight on anything it's back at about 10° once you get weight on everything I think it may end up being way too steep.

Oh and I painted my truck a bright color then did nothing cool. Nothing to see here folks move along

We'll see how it ends up. The shackle is as vertical as I could get it hanging free with no weight on it using a factory hole on the frame for location but I can move it if needed. I won't know until we get some weight back there. Remember these springs are a pretty stiff factory setup. So we'll see how it goes.

Check out Cut Bros. I seen on their Facebook page they are working on brackets and stuff to do ford Dana 60 with four link and either air bags or coilovers. Didn't see it on there website though.

I've got all that under control. It's fairly simple fab work on them. My guy is working on them now. I won't be reinventing the wheel or anything just replicating some stuff that is already out there. Ruff Stuff makes a complete kit to use the Ford super 60 as well.

Got the big monstrous axles off the trailer today with the dozer and a chain. THEY-ARE-HEAVY!. I couldn't even roll them over on the ground. I just need to start taking them apart and that might be a challenge without heavy equipment. Geeez. I am just looking to get them on the roller wheels I picked up so I can strip them. That might be a two person job.

Moving 1 tons is definitely a two person job. Don't care how big someone is that's just asking to blow your satchel out.

Unfortunately ME is all I got. My 100lb Asian girlfriend is hardly any help at all. Me and mechanical advantage get it done. When I get them on wheels it make moving them around easier for sure.

Footnote: The factory radius arms are angled inwards towards the frame. Well within the frame rails on the k-20. So it would be feasible to use the factory radius arms on the truck if someone so chose. Not that I will be doing that I just wanted it noted here that you could. It would be a big monstrous radius arm and the bracket would need to be equally stupid big but....you could do it.

Some day I want to do this swap on my '90 F350 and then I will try to use all factory brackets and parts.

It's really easy. I recently did a 96. Trac bar bracket needs to be made to order but otherwise falls in place. 96 f250 brake lines and tone ring sensor swapped right over. Used late model parking brake cables and made an work with the truck. Other than that it was a breeze.

Tim the fab guy just called and said he had me fixed up. I'll head over tomorrow and work out the final little things we had to sort out and they should be ready after a little primer and paint.

Just a quick tip on moving axles I keep a couple of junk pieces of OSB around. Just put the brakes on those and drag em. They move pretty easy. Oh and use a ratchet straps or rope so your not leaning down

I've still got plenty of snow on the ground so I was thinking something similar. I have a big sled and plenty of webbing and rope. I did yank a muscle in my lower back yesterday just flipping them over. Now that's a huge BITCH!

I guess you will have yours in and running before me.
I need to open mine up and check it out before I stick it in my suburban
Luckily I bought it from a guy I know well and trust. He "Estimated" no more than 5k on it from when they built it. Full build sheet on it too and it was dated last year so I'm good to go. I have some trans and clutch parts that I am waiting on and the big boy is going in. Hopefully by then we have had enough nice weather to get my truck at least rolling on the new axles.

Rear suspension is almost done and the rear axle is ready to install. Brackets and radius arms are made for the front so it should be a couple weeks MAX for having the big block in and purring again. All weather dependent as I'm outside till spring when I can get my dozer out of the shop and my project in.
