Project Snow Bear K20!

You are tearing it up! I'm really enjoying seeing this come together.

That is also a hard working Sub you got there too. Not too many people use them to their potential like that. I like it.

This one gets used and abused a little. Diesel/ 4l80E/ 3/4 ton....what's not to like? It's the king of the mountain up here right now until the snow bear is finished....

Wow two build threads in a month going not LS and not Orange.

Winning

I'll be there. It's been a few years since I have been to MOAB, I was a fixture there for a some years. I will be there hell or high water this season.

What did you drive then. I dig Moab been going since 97. Not every year but I sure do try

Let's see...

46 willy's with a 4bt on 40's...OD green army truck with a full cage until about ten years ago. Then a couple of built CUCV's all OD green. It's sort of my signature color...HA!

Mind you I lived a couple hours from Tellico most of my life. We spent every weekend there nearly. We would go spend a month at a time at MOAB.

We did some pretty ridiculous things back then. I've brought trucks back in pieces before. Literal pieces.

I still have a short list of parts I gotta get a fix on but as it stands all the big stuff is taken care of. Just need the time (and weather) to get more done.

I'll be down before BB to shake down the truck. 8 hour drive and a couple days of trails to get all the kinks worked out. Then come back him and make any changes.

So one small update:
Tearing down the factory parts on the axles. Driveshafts and radius arms are off. Writing down the axle codes for later documentation and something was different than I remembered. I know that there were two sets of these axles already removed from the truck sitting next to each other in the salvage yard. The set that I inspected carefully were not the set that I ended up getting BUT I read the vin code on both trucks and they were the same as far as axle gearing. So I got back in the house and it was bothering me so I ran the codes again. I thought I had 4.10 gears and as it turns out My axles have 4.30 gears with a limited slip. Oh well, even better! Glad I screwed it up well enough to get the two that were the same. Geez....

Forgot that I am missing one of the leaf spring brackets for the drivers side. Got to go back to the salvage yard to get the one I am missing. Crap.

Nice score those must have been in a V10 truck then.
Maybe so. The salvage yard actually has 4 or 5 of these trucks and all but one have the axles pulled. This set was in the back of the truck so I assumed they were from that truck. Guess I was wrong... 4.10 or 4.10 is really no matter for me. It doesn't do very much to my final drive RPM's, saving maybe 200 RPM so it just works better into my crawl ratio.
