Here is my .02 from someone who dealt with PSC when they first opened. My understanding, and someone can correct me if I have details wrong, is that Tom used to be the owner of AGR. He sold AGR and got out of the business. When Tom had AGR, the company had a very good reputation. Tom worked for years for GM I believe and knew his business. He signed a no competition clause for a year or more stating he couldn't go back into the same business and compete with AGR. That is pretty standard when you sell a business. So, time goes by and Tom decides he misses the business and opens PSC. Not long after this, I am in the market for a power steering pump and gear box for my crossover conversion.
I call PSC many times and receive excellent phone service ala Jesse at HAD. Tom spent lots of time discussing all my options, is very helpful, and patient. End result is that I buy my stuff from him. All of it comes and looks to be high quality. I run into an issue with the back of the reservoir tube hitting the manifold and we ship the pump back and forth several times. I eat some shipping but they make the problem right. I was very impressed with the company.
Fast forward to recently. I am having problems with the belt slipping on the power steering. I think I may have a pump problem. I call PSC and get someone besides Tom. He was ok on the phone but not that helpful. I sent an e-mail as well and got a pretty vague response. I am guessing here that Tom has brought PSC back up to the level of where AGR was before. They are pretty well known and probably very busy. Their product line has expanded considerably from when I first dealt with them. I suspect that Tom had to hire some help to answer e-mails and phone calls. Clearly the quality of service has declined under his new hirees. Hopefully he will realize this and rectify it. I will say that his products though remain good and I would buy from them again.
