Anybody here on the boards really good at rebuilding them? The whole dip and clean and completely freshen type deal?

Guess I could send it to Jet performance products to go through.

Jet does have a good rep from what I've read. Never dealt with them first hand though...

does Jet offer that kind of sevice? I thought you had to buy one like whats in Summit racing.

I haven't either but have read about them in several rags. Mostly there chips and the like. Found a tech article online about their process for rebuilding a q jet. Looks good.....

They list the service on their website when you look up the qjets as an option available.

I can't say that I've heard good or bad about them personally. Many mags have used them for their articles though. I think one of the main problems is throttle shaft wear. There is a bushing kit to take care of that. Other than that, a normal rebuild with a Jiffy Kit has worked great for me. The only mods I've ever made to one is drilling out the jets a few thou., due to header and manifold install.

I've done it lots, any specific questions?

Nothing specific other than, Can you do it? How much will you charge me? Can you recoat it as new? Can you bench tune to my requirements?:D

Truth be told, I don't know much about them nor have the time to learn it currently. Plenty to do at the shop so this one, I'll farm it out happily.:wink1:

I'm not really in the business of doing work on the side like that anymore, back in college I would've jumped at that.

I'm willing to help in any other way though :D

I will see if I can get a hold of a guy here local that does them, He is a freaking genius with them. I will pm you if I can get a hold of him he is an old guy so hit and miss sometimes

check out cliffshighperformance.com I talked to cliff personally and he is a great guy to work with. He will rebuild them or he will sell you the complete kits with parts you can't buy in the parts stores. I built mine through him and he even guided me to set it up based on my engine specs and use. He has been building them for 30 years, so he is pretty quick on them. If you email him he will answer usually in a couple hours with an answer.

small world, he hangs out in the Corvette forums too.

yep, he has written a lot of tech articles....I'm zim64 on Digital and C1&C2 forums.

Spoke with Jet today.

$269.00 plus return shipping to do the carb and get it back to me. I forgot to ask the turn around time.

They also require a spec sheet for the engine to bench tune to the requirements.

That number includes all the dipping and plating and so forth. When returned it should appear as new.

I may call a few others yet.
