I think I may have told this one.
Several years back, I parked my old Ford truck in the mall parking lot.
The bumper on it was not as wide as the 8 inch channel iron on mine now, but it was just as strong.
It hit a deer at 70 with no damage.....
Anyway, I was about halfway to the mall entrance, when I heard tires squealing.
Turned around to see one of those big caddys burning rubber backwards right into the front of my truck.
It actually knocked my truck back about 3 feet.
I started that way, she threw it into gear and tried to take off.
Almost dragged my truck back to where it was before she got loose and blew out of the lot.
I checked the situation out, walked back to the store and called the cops. (Before Cell Phones)
Cop shows up, I flag him down, and he pulls up across behind my truck.
I tell him the story, he asked if I saw the plate number as she went by. I said, not as she went by I didn't.
He says he will put out a notice for the cops to watch for a damaged caddy, but odds are they won't find it.
He says he will go ahead and make out a report for my insurance company.
I tell him that I don't need a report, since I don't have any damage to claim.
He looks a little PO-ed, and asks just why did I bother to call him?
I walk to the front of the truck, and pick up her entire rear bumper complete with license plate and tell him he might want to return it to her.....
We loaded it into the trunk of his car, and he was still grinning when he drove off.
I think I made his day.
