I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. It's a fine car, but not the best drag racer, which is what application I was refering to. It's a fine car as far as looks and interior. I just wouldn't drag it thats all.
 
just to clear the air, my truck is an off road built truck. This is however my first big block and i'm enjoying it! I'm no street racer normally, heck i actualy dont like my friends doing it, but they both helped me on the build and we all wanted to race. Next time it will be at the 1/8 mile track here though :)

Nice! Cant wait to see what the track numbers will be! When/if I get my burb to the track i'll get some numbers just for the hell of it you know. Mine is also my first Big Block And ya it is a blast afer living with tiered old small blocks. Hell id pass people now just cause i can . No dought though your truck would waist mine any day of the week!

that is all, even though they are have smaller engines, they are a lot lighter than the truck.

no matter the gearing, or "torque" claimed, thats alot of truck and tire weight to get movin to launch quicker than those lightweight cars.

I know its just your opinion, but what maters more in a flat out race (not top end obviously) than torque and gear ratios???? You say no matter the torque and gear ratios........thats bull****. Torque and gear ratios are everything in drag racing.....as they are in rock crawling. And brandonc isnt a mall wheeler.

I personally have never been a big fan of "go fast" trucks, had friends that wanted to make their truck with big power, and i just say, why? it's not a Corvette, it's a truck, it's meant to work, crawl and climb if necessary.

that kind of setup for fast launches and racing belongs on the track anyways, for "racecars";)

OK. Once again. Yes it is a go-fast truck somewhat. It DOES go fast. But he built it for fourwheeling. In order to make it up steep obsticales, he added a motor with big power. Big power=big power. That means it WILL go fast on the street. Especially when its a 500ci engine!!!Its a 3k lb truck, and it DID beat those cars. He said ( and i saw it in the videos) that his truck beat them to 40. That my friend, is where the low end torque, and 5.13's kick in. Look at the other video posted....and you will see that the mitsu got the jump on the horn. Yes, the other ones do look like the truck got the jump, but I have no doubt that a 3k lb truck with a 500 ci engine, and 5.13's, beat out a 4 and 6 cyl.....................period.

I wanna see you put a set of little 27" tires like on a small shortbed or something, and see how quick she is then :D I betcha you launch past those little cars like they are standing still (if you can hook up, LOL)
 
what he needs are some of those donut tires....wonder how long theyd last
 
1/8 mile drag racing, when none of the vehicles lack traction, is all about lb/hp and spinning mass.

That truck probably doesn't weigh a whole lot... probably weighs what the Mustang weighs. You have to remember it's just a shell (I see he he traded in the milk crate for a real seat), with a lightweight motor (weighs what a SBC weighs), and heavy axles and tires.

That V6 rustang probably puts out around 165hp to the wheels on a good day. The only "edge" that Mustang has is that it's rotating mass is about 1/10th of the pickup. The Eclipse is probably the fastest one of the group and that's assuming it's got a manumatic V6.
 
sweet, looks and sounds awsome,now we have to race brandon :) when ya gonna make it to more so part of socal :D i know a cool place we could play with it and then fix it if something breaks:wink1:

there both 6cyl
and my truck is about 5400 with me in it! 5200 by itself. its heavy! lol but if you watch the second race, you can see that me and the mustang take off at exactaly the same time, no "jump" there, the eclipse was just a little slow

anyways, hmmm, big torque for rock crawlin??? Toyotas and Nissans have big torque?

i personally know someone who built a rock crawler with a 4 banger Mazda engine, NOT ALOT OF TORQUE THERE,

anyways, sorry i even brought it up, sorry i had an opinion, sorry i noticed what i thought were some "issues" with the video.

but hey, i guess this wouldn't CK5 if there wasn't somebody to trash on often.:rolleyes:

The truck has big power designed for offroad use. The BY PRODUCT of that is rather quick truck on the street.

whatever, obviously not EVERYBODY can have an opinion on here, thats cool though i guess.

I am not being all whiny BTW, just voicing my opinions, i could care less either way.

but hey, lets keep this going in this direction, IT'S THE CK5 WAY:waytogo:
