Ram now has a light diesel

It is "little". They bastardized the original design to fit that front end on.

They need small trucks that are actually small. That thing looks like it will cost $40,000.

Like this one they already had??? :doah:

Too bad that model is 10 years old, and a heap. Just for fun look how the Tacoma absolutely obliterated the two in sales the past ten years. Good luck GM :doah: The new Canyon already has a dated interior and a facelift after two years as some sort of last ditch effort to not be emasculated by every other truck on the market.

Were they waiting for another bail out? They literally produced the last Colorado and Canyon until only 4 people wanted to buy them.

I thought the canyon was a "little" truck. That's definitely full size... And those window lines on the doors are horrible looking..

The thing looks straight off the boat from Australia. Just way too much going on with the doors and the window lines. :pukesmilie:

Oh ya and they aren't offering it in a regular cab at all. Either extended or crew.

On the Detroit auto show video I saw ages ago. It is much smaller than a 1500. That looks like camera trickery to me.

Yah your right. Here's the Colorado. Same ugly window lines.

Vehicles are becoming so ugly :(

Jesus that GMC is ugly. I kinda like the Chevy :)

Here's my opinion of "midsize" trucks. They're almost as big as a fullsize, get mostly the same crappy mileage, but are small inside and have a bed you can't even put a sheet of plywood into. What exactly is the point of that? It's like buying a condo for 180k when you could have a house with a yard for 200k.

That's why midsize trucks aren't selling. (Except for the Tacoma, which is mostly riding along on Toyota's reputation and their owners dogmatic belief in the superiority of the Japanese truck.) It's not quality, style, or features holding them back! They're a half measure.

So can I please just have a new Suburban with an efficient diesel??

Truck trend is talking that GM is all about that 4.5 Duramax that got shelved a few years ago making a comeback in the Burb!

Yea midsize trucks are kinda a waste.

The ram I think will do fairly well. I'd have to seriously consider it if I needed a new truck.

As for a diesel suburban, believe it or not GM actually does make one. My dad saw a whole **** load of them at the Port of Newark. He wanted to take a picture but was not to and if caugh would be kicked off the property. They only make it for the goverment to use as armored car overseas. They have barn doors too. He said it sounded just like any Duramax pickup does.

Well,

2014-ram-1500-ecodiesel.jpg

Four Wheeler reviewed the new crew-cab Ram ecodiesel. Here's all you need to know:

13 mpg towing 6500 lbs.
18 mpg four wheeling.
27 on the highway!!

Tick-tock GM.

I have had a great experience with my 05 quad cab 4x4. 180K miles and never been to a repair shop other than a pinion seal and u-joint under warranty.

I would love that new diesel but I fear it will sell well and won't be discounted much. No way I'm paying $50K for a truck.

It looks like the diesel option is $2,850 over the hemi.

Just built a basic truck online

4x4 quad cab SLT package.

First off the diesel on the website said $4000 (I guess that is over the V6 and that would be $2,850 over the V8) plus you have to upgrade the trans for another $500 so really it's a $4,500 adder for the diesel.

Came out at $41,765. Still too much for me.

$40k for a truck is about average nowadays. Try pricing a new Chevy, they'll be just as much.

Oh, I understand. It's just too expensive for me for a daily. I drive about 35,000 miles a year so I burn them down too fast. I have to buy a year or two old with low miles to justify it. My 05 Dodge only had 8K on it when I bought it Dec of 06. Haven't daily driven it for the last 3 years since I got my BMW. So I put 160K on it from 1/07 - 1/12 and only 20K since but then put another 60K on my BMW since January 2012.

I try to keep DD purchases under $30K. That comes out to about $6K per year or $500 per month in depreciation. I get $.56/mile in reimbursement for mileage so could spend more but I don't like to. After adding in taxes, insurance and fuel on a new vehicle it burns that $.56 up quick.
