Looks like you guys had a good trip, I'm sorry I couldn't make it :doah:, next time for sure :waytogo:

Nicks truck is definitely sweet, I haven't seen it since he ditched the bed, but it did great when we were there last June.

Thanks for all the kind words, looking forward to the next big ride hopefully before it gets too hot!

Sam,
when are you guys planning to be back down?

For me probably not sometime till mid summer. I'm in Ohio finishing up school but my buddy's that where there will probably be going sooner.

getting back in the game!

been a while since my last post. money is tight!!! moved home after graduating college and now its time to pay school loans and a hefty snap on tool bill!:doah:
got myself a good job though so blazer work will pick up soon. plans are to get some stuff fixed for a trip to rausch in september and then it will be getting completely torn down over the winter. ive rushed tooo many projects on the truck and its time to sit down and do it right! updates will be coming throughout the month.

Are you trying to make it out there on the 6th and 7th ?

Gonna go TBI?

well gotta love an old beat up chevy. my daily driver ford crapped out on me 4 weeks ago. major exhaust issues pre turbo and rear driveline problems. (damn fords...) so i was driving the familys 1957 chevy 3800 flatbed back and forth to work but had to stop cause of the classic car plates.

so i registered and insured the blazer! been driving it for a week now and suprisingly its pretty tame on the road. (the boggers are not a good street tire FYI :doah:) done a few fixes and gonna go over the whole truck after an event at englishtown raceway park this weekend. they have an offroad challenge this saturday. (timed offroad course, runs 3 different classes. im stuck running outlaw because of my tire size) so we shall see how she does. got a steering box brace on the way so i wont have to worry about the box in the future. gonna have a few updates and pictures on some minor stuff i have to change to attempt to get it to pass NJ inspection. mostly gonna be tuning for emissions. actually pulling 15mpg back and forth to work outta this thing!:woot:

not a whole lot to update but here is what i got!
Finally got a winch!!! Warn 8274 scored for free!!!
built a mount into my stinger for it. little bit of a tight fit.

couple pics from the rausch trip a few weekends back

this was a rough day. had the driver side front centering pin sheer trying to spit out a couple of leafs. then the passenger side wheel bearing came apart heading back to the camp. spent a couple hours parts searching and fixing the problem. luckily we brought a old mack tow truck to help fix stuff :waytogo:

the truck got a new 350 installed too so no more mosquito smoke screen from all the oil.
deffinitly looking for a set of h1 rims to recenter. blew way to many beads last trip. also gonna be looking to setup some kind of efi. most likely junkyard tbi. if anyone has any hits on some of the parts lemme know!!

nice! how was rausch?

The fog was insane !!! We camped sat night in the first spots A1, you could not see across the parking lot let alone see the office :eek1:
Visibility on the trails was only 100 or so feet.....until we went down into the valley where rock creek is....totally clear.
Muddy and slick, was lots of fun :waytogo:

Winch looks great Sam, looks even better for the the price :D

sounds like a great time!!! i cant wait to go again.

and yes i was happy with it although its only rated at 8,000 lbs :dunno: im gonna get a new shorter cable for it and keep a snatch block on hand just in case and it should work fine. the cable on it now is 150ft long witch is just not needed....:doah:

h1 craziness!

ok so last trip out to rausch i had consistent problem of blowing the beads off there seat.... (ignoring the other breakage for now:whistle:) i am set on going to a set of h1 rims. will be doing the usual recenter/pvc insert/ rockring and so forth. i am struggling to find a good yet simple write up on recentering an h1. if anyone has a good link feel free to share! as i am still somewhat apprehensive on doing the job myself. got some goodies on order from eastwood and ruffstuff so i will have some actual updates in the near future!:thumb::thumb:

Someone told me to leave the old center in, and bolt the new center to it with spacers in between them. Weld in the new center, and then cut out the old center.

i heard that and i also heard that u just push the center against a ridge inside the rim. i will be using pressed centers also. just what im trying to figure out because ive heard of so many different methods

8 bolt or 12 bolt. Easy for 8 bolt cut out old center drop the new center on the lip inside the rim , check carefully, tack, do a runout if ya want. Weld in new center, air down with reckless abandon

That is how I did mine. I used a plasma cutter to cut the old centers out using the opening of the inner wheel as a guide if you will. On the 12 bolts there is a definete ridge that the centers will sit on, I set out them in measured about 10 times :haha: put a few good tack welds in about 8 places measuring each time then welded them in doing 2-3" beads in a pattern like tightening lugs nuts.....they came out pretty good imho it runs down the road at 65 with 42's quite smoothly.

My 12 bolts were the same basic procedure
