Bump?

They are not necessary.

The struts arre not needed for the rig if it just a daily driver. The only problem I have seen is with large tires and high horsepower. The adapter between the tranny and tcase can break under stress without it.
I have a large pile of bad TH350's and TH700R4's as well, and it is because they burnt up, not because the struts rods were missing.

Not true , and I have a pile of bad 700R4 and TH350 cases to back up that statement.
Get a different set of headers and or go manifolds the strut is needed.
Edit: make sure your t-case mounts are in good shape as well

Both , street rigs and wheeling rigs. more common on the iron t-cased rigs. One good pothole or speedbump is enough to do it. GM put that brace because it was needed all the time , not just for "offroading".
He was talking about the rods that go from the motor mounts to the torque converter cover. Not the one going from the bellhousing to the t case.
